What Caught My Eye at Quince This Season
Quince Clothing is a relatively new brand on the scene, advertising luxury for less. Cashmere sweaters for $50, washable silk bias-cut slip skirts (which were all the rage at that time) for just as cheap, yet there are fair wages, sustainable practices, and organic materials. As Quince has gained popularity, it has expanded its offerings. Quince extended size clothing, luggage, bedding, jewelry, and now furniture. And a lot of those offerings looked an awful lot like popular labels and small designers.
Some of these labels and small designers are in my closet. But because of this, I have been able to really compare to see if Quince's versions are the look for less. I have found that they are the look for less… for less. They rarely can hold a candle but that doesn't mean they aren't good buys.
Quince leather bags are soft and nicely designed. The luggage is worth more than its pricetag and folks rave about Quince sheets. Quince sunglasses are an excellent choice for a stylish under $100 style without being too on the nose to a designer's style, and the Quince Turkish cotton bath sheets are utterly decadent. Other items are nice, but they don't hold a candle the original label's quality, style, or design.
I find the best way to shop Quince is to not shop the look for less. Shop the basics and general trend concepts, and get that affordable luxury experience without compromising your style or your ethics. It's far more enjoyable when you aren't comparing.
I have a partnership with Quince where I get a purchase allowance on a regular basis. I own one bag from Quince that one may consider a dupe, but I tried the original and liked Quince's more. The rest, I choose what gives a vibe not a name. I end up owning and wearing those items much more because they're not only copies, they are more trend-specific. I thought it may help to see what items I am considering this season from Quince:
- Ibiza Polarized Acetate Sunglasses: These are similar to more than one designer, so I don't feel like I'm wearing an obvious dupe. I own Quince sunglasses and find the quality good for the price; I'm digging the green option.
- Italian Leather Driving Gloves: I mean, DUH. They look badass and I used to have a pair of driving gloves I looooved but lost or damaged some time in the early 2010s. Both colors are chic.
- Mongolian Cashmere Slouch Sock: Another major duh. Slouchy soft cashmere socks for less than $30? That sounds pretty decadent to me. I want the gray and I want to wear them with vermillion and tomato and Barbie pink and chartreuse.
- Organic Airy Gauze Quilt: Made from 100% cotton, this looks sooo nice to sleep under those windows open summer and fall evenings. And I love that there is more than just beige/natural colors. As for what color I'd pick, I'd need to discuss it with my roommate!
- Italian Leather Slouchy Sling Crossbody: I know which bag this is influenced by. I bought it last fall, didn't like it, and sent it back. Based on my experience with Quince leather, I have a feeling the differences with Quince's version will be exactly what I wanted from the original. If I get it, I'd choose cognac. I have a pair of cognac boots coming from Ally NYC and I think they'd be great together.
- Mother of Pearl Ring: I own a similar one from a sustainable jewelry designer but with a different stone color. I am curious to compare the two.
- Super Luxe Baby Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater: I hope the burgundy is as rich as it looks online. I find Quince cashmere runs roomy but I am still going to order my larger of two sizes for a relaxed fit. I can't wait to style that burgundy with denim and cognac and heather gray and hot pink and possibly chartreuse, mustard, or oxblood.
- 100% Organic Cotton Striped Crew Sweater: Um, hello, have you seen me? If it's striped I'm swooning. Navy with the white stripes for me; I'm choosing XL and would have likely ordered XXL if Quince offered it (cough cough).
- 100% Organic Cotton Short Sleeve Shirt Dress: This has the vibe of a couple of designers, but not so close it's a copy. And the colors are really good; I'd pick the green. I think it's so smart looking; imagine with birks, heeled sandals, ballet flats, gladiator sandals, slouchy suede boots, sneakers… and another cough as this dress would ROCK in extended sizes.
There are other things I find good buys at Quince, but they just don't make sense for my life, home, or closet at this time (or I already own them). Have you made any recent Quince purchases? Anything you recommend? Which of these should I get?

While I’ve not been thrilled with the Quince cashmere sweater I tried or the organic cotton cropped sweat pants and hoody( got holes in the within 6 months) we are quite happy with the tencel sheets and comforter and I like the linen pajamas. The fit on clothing items can also be inconsistent.
I too have found the fit inconsistent.
I’ve tried several things from Quince, some are good (ribbed tank dress, linen pajamas), some ok (cashmere tee which I think runs short and small) and several I returned (johnny collar cotton sweater with sloppy stitching, linen button down and silk tees that I thought ran small). They seem to have started as a company with low priced, good quality staples and have rapidly moved into fast fashion and dupes (and now couches and steak knives?!). I think most of their dupes lack the style/cut/quality of the originals but there is the price difference to consider. Personally, I’d rather buy a pre-owned Clare V woven bag than their dupe bc the cognac leather looks like it lacks the depth of color and shading that you see in the original but to each their own!
I tried Quince a few times. I found th quality poor. The sweaters shrunk and pilled no matter how carefully I washed or wore them. The cardigans especially — the underarms were HORRIBLE. Crooked seams, no or very thin linings, rough fabrics.
I’ve seen so many influencers highlighting this brand. I ordered something and the price value was pretty good. BUT, I should have done my own research. I did not realize that Quince is a direct from China brand. And given how many and how fast they add new products, I’m left wondering just how and what makes Quince different from Shien.
I’ve gotten a few things that I like a lot—the wide leg linen pants are probably my favorite so far. Also have a cashmere sweater— that was the first thing I ever tried from them. I like it but don’t necessarily love it. It’s kind of fitted more than I want it to be but some of that I can blame on my body & peri-menopause changes. I also have a cotton fisherman sweater in navy that I love. I can’t recall if there’s an ivory version but if so, I think it will go on my Christmas wish list. I am never going to buy a Jenni Kane sweater for myself—I just can’t justify spending that kind of money on clothes, for me. So, I’m happy with the Quince options.
Now that I’ve looked at the quilt you linked, I’m very interested in that. It would look lovely on my bed in the ivory option & looks like it would not be too warm. The purse looks amazing too—I usually get a new bag at Christmas from my husband so I may be dropping some shopping links/hints soon!
Random, but I have been wanting to get steak knives to match our expensive Japanese ones for 4 years. But a set was almost $600. Got the Quince dupes and so far so good! My husband is the picky foodie and he approves…
Tried to be a fan but quality wasn’t there. Bought a turtleneck merino boucle sweater last year that pilled the first time I wore it. Have 3 cashmere sweaters that pilled sooner than other brands have. Bought a long sleeve basic t shirt for husband and found the neck stretched out after several washes. Tried a leather bag and returned it–the leather was not as nice as some faux leathers I’ve seen. It was very fake looking and stiff. The styles do look wonderful and prices are reasonable but no more orders for me.
The limitation of Quince’s extended size range is extremely disappointing. They offer only a TINY fraction of their range in extended sizes. They offer a TOTAL of 21 items in extended sizes; there are 45 items in the regular sizes for “Midi Dresses” alone. I get an email just about every day from them with new product offerings from them, and I think, “Ooh, I’d love that,” but nope – not available in my size. It’s rather insulting, and it makes me not want to try out other items like accessories or home goods. Wish they would do better – put some of that expansion energy into being more inclusive.
I love Quince’s chunky cotton sweaters. I’m very klutzy and always manage to get pulls in shaker knits, but these sweaters are very sturdy. The shorter, more cropped styles work well for a petite 60+ woman like me.
Quince is fast fashion, by another name. Their quality leaves a lot to be desired, and when I’ve succumbed to ordering, I always return. I loved the look of the reversible silk shawl, for example, but despite reviews saying it was such high quality, I found the fabric to be really cheap and the exposed seams an obvious manufacturing short-cut. Quince’s “compare to” prices are not accurate — I completely disregard that section of each listing, as they’re comparing apples to oranges. After a recent order of the above-mentioned shawl and two linen shirts, I returned everything and stopped trying.
I have multiple items from Quince and I think they’re all well worth it. And their return policy! Yes, please! I recently purchased their 100% Organic Cotton Striped cardigan in speckled beige and ivory – it’s amazing! I purchased the designer one at the same time, and Quince was thicker and softer. It’s cropped so I sized up for a slouchy fit. I also purchased the convertible crescent woven shoulder/crossbody. It’s much bigger than I expected, so I am still deciding (and I have time because they allow 365-day returns). This summer we bought their linen sheets – they get softer and softer with each wash. I also have the cashmere slouchy socks (I got them as a holiday gift last year), but I washed them in the washing machine 🙁 Now, they fit a child. I’d love another pair, but I am unsure if I want to wash socks by hand. Maybe?
I have a lot that I love from Quince. Favorites are zip cashmere hoodie, cotton fisherman sweater, linen wide pull on pants, leather camera bag, On my list for fall is another zip hoodie in burgundy, and the convertible Clare V ko you show above in black woven. I think it’s bigger than Clare V, which ai find to be overpriced for the quality in general. Also a 25” checkable suitcase. Too bad they didn’t give you a code!
I love Quince’s style, not super thrilled with my experiences, quality-wise. I ADORE the jersey wrap dresses, they feel wonderful, fit wonderfully and are perfect for the new “business casual” corporate work world I live in. Problem is, they pill and fade and get piques (sp?) after a couple of gentle washes (and line dry). They are so cheap I have replaced them, thinking somehow the bad experience was due to my carelessness, but alas, no. Also, the cashmere is nice but pills and ages quickly. It’s still a cheap price for one season of wear, but I’m trying to avoid fast fashion/landfills.
To end on a high note, however, I have a Quince leather tote bag and it is WONDERFUL. So high quality and especially for the price.
I am loving Quince Flow Knit pants and tops. I ordered the deep green zip jacket and pants. The color is divine! I tried Spanx air essentials but ai like t be quince version better. Also I have a light pinkish purple wide leg sweat pant and top that are amazingly comfy. I bought the same set for my 26 year old granddaughter and she loves it too. I also love their bags. I am going to check out the burgundy right now!
Quince’s cotton oversized cardigans are fantastic. I size down for a more fitted look. They wash well and hold up well. I have several of their dresses which I also like.

I love it and get so many comments on it. The color and quality are great. I just ordered some linen sheets.
I have a few things from Quince. The cashmere is ok, maybe a little itchy? I’m looking at the cotton sweaters, though I’d like to see a wider range of colors, especially deeper jewel tones rather than all the warm neutrals. I’m also considering a leather phone crossbody. Things I’ve liked: the fold over nylon crossbody bag, which is similar to Lululemon’s Festival bag; the convertible leather shoulder bag in black (bought at your recommendation!); and last year, my husband got the leather cafe racer jacket in black and it is absolutely gorgeous, looks much more expensive than it was, and fits him perfectly. I think Quince is hit or miss, but the hits are really impressive.
I am a fan of Quince’s washable silk line. I own two dresses and a shirt; I am hoping to add more blouses this season. If they are knock-offs, I don’t know the original. These clothes are what we want in workwear but rarely find: machine wash, natural fabric, understated styles, in a range of glorious color, at a price that allows actually wearing the items in a weekly rotation.
So many manufacturers make dreamy natural fabric clothes and then slap a “dry clean only” label on them. Expensive, bad for the environment, and dry cleaned clothes smell stinky. Nice to have an alternative.
I love the sheets! And that quilt is on my list as well. I have a linen shirt that is okay. It’s thicker than I expected so it’s a bit warm. But color and quality are good.
Just ordered the Tencel jersey wrap dress, the quilted convertible crossbody and the reversible silk wrap. They each are luxe, high quality and exciting additions to my wardrobe. Think I’ll try the towels next!
