I recently did an Instagram campaign with Soft Surroundings and was highly impressed by the fit, bounceback, and style of the jeans I was sent. Hello petites up to 18 and plus up to 24 (and they run roomy). Based on this experience, I am considering the ponte slim leg pants and these trouser jeans. Both have the same great size range and are highly rated.

See/Hear/Read

Hi, my name is Alison, and I am another person online who LOVED the TV series Nobody Wants This (Netflix). Starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, it's a rom-com for GenX and elder millennials without the typical older woman madcap escapades, lies and covers for lies, and jealousy of younger women we usually see in such films.

There's honesty, understanding, acceptance, humor, friendship, and good-looking people who don't look like they're trying to pass for being 15 years younger. There are kisses that will make you swoon and real-life relatable situations even if you aren't a reasonably well-off creative in Los Angeles. And while it's about a rabbi and a “shiksa” non-religious person who fall for each other, it's humorous, but I still feel respectful of everyone's beliefs and feelings.

At first I felt it was corny and cliche and I was trying to figure out why Bell's face looked different. And sometimes I felt Bell's character was off (the whole dog thing was weird and clearly the doggy actor wasn't trying to cooperate) but I loved it and so did my husband. We binged the whole thing in one weekend. Do know this is not for the family; my teen walked in during a shopping scene and walked right out!

For Your Entertainment

As you read this, I am off at Girl Scout camp with my daughter and her troop. Wish me luck! No bathrooms, no electricity, no running water… at least there is no rain in the forecast! But I was packing during the time I am usually picking a song. I don't think I ever shared Lola Young, who has a pretty cool and fresh sound; this is my favorite of her songs:

  1. Thanks for the Ta-Nahesi Coates’ article. I’d heard mentions of the interview but hadn’t heard much about it.
