Sephora Fall Savings Event 2024: Best Buys from my Beauty Guru
My sister Debbie is my beauty guru. She loves skincare and makeup, and while I follow fashion brands and style icons on social media, she does this with beauty. She knows her stuff, so I have invited her to share what she finds to be the best buys from the Sephora Fall Savings Event 2024. For more tips, check her picks for the 2024 Spring Sephora Savings Event!
As always, I encourage you to share your purchases and best buys from Sephora in the comments to assist other members of the Wardrobe Oxygen Community with their shopping!
When is the Sephora Fall Savings Event?
As with most Sephora sales, the Spring Savings Event is a tiered sale. Your status with Sephora's free Beauty Insider program determines when you can shop and how much of a discount you will receive.
The Sephora Spring Savings Event begins Friday, November 1, 2024, in-store and online, for those who are Rouge status with the Beauty Insider program. Rouge status members get 20% off their purchases. Also, on November 1st, all Sephora Collection products will be 30% off, regardless of status.
The sale opens to those in VIB and Insider status on Tuesday, November 5. VIB status members receive 15% off their Sephora purchases, and Insider status members receive 10% off their purchases. The Sephora Fall Savings Event ends November 11 for all levels of Beauty Insider members.
What makes this sale so special?
It may seem as though Sephora has one of these deals every month, but in fact, a discount of up to 20% only happens twice a year. Sephora is known for makeup, but the company also carries a wide range of skincare, haircare, body care, and wellness products. And unlike department stores, Sephora mixes high-end with more budget-friendly yet highly-rated brands (and has an affordable in-house brand that is 30% off during this event).
And with this, I pass the baton/pen/keyboard to my sister Debbie!
Sephora Fall Savings Event Best Buys
I love the Sephora Fall Savings Event. I plan for it, I save up for it, and I try to make most of my purchases during this time because I am Rouge level and get 20% off. I love reading and watching recommendation lists and love coming to my sisterโs blog to share mine with you!
My Skincare Recommendations
I do end up needing to repurchase a lot of my staples whenever itโs sale time. Iโll also go without for a bit so I can get that savings. Right now, I am out of my daily face wash. I have been using Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser for a while now, Iโve gone through several tubes of it and really like it. But Iโm also fairly obsessed with Dieux, and they just came out with their Baptism Gentle Foaming Facial Gel Cleanser with Glycerin that sounds pretty similar but at a slightly smaller price point (Dieux is about $5/oz, Summer Fridays is $7/oz), so Iโm going to try that instead.
I donโt have sensitive skin, so I am going with the fragranced version, but I love it so much that they also have a fragrance-free version. This is my second cleanser (for my first, I use CeraVe Hydrating), though sometimes my only cleanser if Iโm not wearing makeup. I like something thatโs not going to strip my skin, that doesnโt have any actives, and is just easy and pleasant to use.
Iโm also out of my exfoliating face wash. I am still using the Tata Harper Regenerating BHA Exfoliating Cleanser. It is 100% a Holy Grail product for me. I donโt use it every day โ though I could โ and so the smaller container lasts months. I still have a little leftover from the tube I bought in the Spring sale, but that could also be because I also had a few small tubes.
This cleanser easily transfers to a sample-sized container for travel, but I also like to buy this 5-Minute Facial for Megawatt Glow set, which comes with the cleanser and mask. Itโs so good to use right after a long flight, and then I continue to use the cleanser on the rest of my trip. And it comes in a sensitive skin version!
And I need a new acid. I use this in the morning as my first step instead of washing my face (always wear sunscreen, especially if using actives!) and I like something that has a combination of acids, including glycolic. Before before I hit 40, glycolic did nothing for me, I was all about lactic, now I like a good amount of glycolic.
Itโs also all about formula โ I really donโt like The Ordinary Glycolic Acid, itโs kind of harsh for me, but I can use the Dr. Dennis Gross Extra Strength Peel Pads with no problem. I was planning on repurchasing the Summer Fridays one, but it looks like they no longer make it! So Iโm back to the drawing board.
I might go back to the Dr. Dennis Gross peel pads, and I like that they have different strengths and types of acids โ thereโs Extra Strength (glycolic, mandelic, and salicylic), Universal (glycolic, lactic, and malic) and Ultra Gentle (lactic acid only). But I might also go back to the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads (glycolic and lactic). I find them pretty gentle on my not-sensitive skin, and my skin just looks good when I use them. Nothing revolutionary, but a good refresh.
Iโm also interested in the Fenty Skin Pre-Show Glow Refillable Instant Retexturizing 10% AHA Treatment (glycolic, citric, and lactic). Iโm still undecided, I think itโll be a game-time decision.
I am also going to get the Caudalie Vinoperfect Ultimate Brightening Routine. For the same price as the serum bottle, you also get a mini eye cream and moisturizer. The serum is a vitamin C alternative, and I really like it in the winter. It doesnโt completely get rid of dark spots, but I do think it reduces them and just makes my skin brighter.
Iโm not fully out of my moisturizerโIโve been using Merit Great Skin, and I really like it. Itโs thick but not heavy, nice in the morning and night, and perfect for the crazy hot and cold weather weโve been having this fall.
But for winter, I really like Dieux Instant Angel, so I will be purchasing that. I love how thick this is and that it leaves my skin a little tacky. I made Alison try it, and she hated the tacky feeling, so this isnโt for everyone. I also used their Air Angel Gel Cream over the summer, and it was light and refreshing.
Iโm also going to get a refill of the Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor (which also comes in a mineral sunscreen version), which is a great daily moisturizer that you can use enough to get the full SPF coverage while not feeling gloopy. I also really like the Supergoop! Play for the same reason. Itโs classified as just a sunscreen, but I think itโs moisturizing enough to use on its own.
Glossier went back to their original Balm Dotcom formula, so it includes lanolin, which is the magic ingredient in my favorite Jack Black lip balm, and Iโm a little obsessed with Balm Dotcom. I have the original and mint and am going to venture into the color formulas with this Limited Edition Biscotti and Espresso set because I love brown lip products. Iโm so excited about this.
My Haircare Recommendations
For hair products, I will be buying a full-sized bottle of the K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask โ I bought the mini size at some point this year and didnโt really use it, but then I saw Kayley Melissaโs YouTube video about it, started using it regularly, and was like, ohhhh… I get the hype.
I am also going to try the Color Wow Dream Cocktail Carb-Infused Thickening Leave-In Treatment. I loooooove Dream Coat. My hair actually stays straight and non-puffy in all types of humidity, but as soon as the humidity drops, my hair does, too, so I like thickening and volumizing products in the winter.
Though back to humidity โ I also love the Color Wow One Minute Transformation Anti Frizz Styling Cream. I keep some in my purse for emergency puffiness and it really works. I recommend just getting the mini size because you just need to use a little at a time.
My Body Care Recommendations
I will be buying another tube of my favorite Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream. Itโs effective, it smells really good, and itโs reasonably priced (for a high-end hand cream). I just applied some more as I was typing this, and my desk tube is almost out.
I also think Iโm going to get a mini size of the Kate McLeod Body Stone. I have been interested in these lotion bars for months now, just waiting for cooler weather to buy one. Thereโs also an insect repellent one โ if I like these, I may buy the insect repellent to have on hand for next summer.
In other body care news, I highly recommend the Luna Daily sprays. They basically turn regular toilet paper into a wet wipe. I donโt know what sort of magic Luna uses that makes toilet paper damp but not disintegrate it, but Iโm a big fan. I have the standard size at home and keep the mini in my purse.
My Makeup Recommendations
For makeup, I recently bought some new blushes, and I love them. I was very into peachy bronzer type colors over the summer and wore the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder Flushed โ Matte Color for Cheek & Lip in Rosรฉ N Brunch every single day, usually with the Dior Rosy Glow Blush in Coral layered on top. But when September hit, I just wanted something different.
I bought the Rosy Glow Blush in Mahogany and applied it very lightly. Itโs such a pretty color, but it can be a little patchyโI think because Iโm applying so little. But I love the depth of color it addsโmuch better for me than any bronzer has been.
So my current system is to start with the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush in Hope (I have the mini), then a very light layer of Dior Mahogany, applied with a duo-fiber brush, then blend it all together with Pat McGrath Divine Powder Blush in Fleurtatious.
I finally figured out the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder after seeing a TikTok she did. You need to let it sit for a minute or two before putting anything else on top. I like it instead of foundation. I have it in Universalโtranslucent, so it doesnโt add any coverage but blurs everything in the most subtle way. Then, I can spot conceal and move on with the rest of my makeup.
Lately, I have liked wearing an actual foundation, but I'm not sure yet if I recommend what Iโm using, so Iโm going to skip that. However, I do still really like both the Hourglass Veil Mineral and First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie primers. NARS Soft Matte concealer continues to be my go-to, and I still apply it with a Real Techniques eyeshadow brush. It just blends so well.
I donโt really wear actual lipstick much these days, but I recently pulled out my Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red and realized it needed to be updated so thatโs in my cart. Itโs just the perfect classic red and great for the holidays.
My favorite lip gloss right now is the Sephora Collection Outrageous Plump Hydrating Lip Gloss. Itโs minty, but not excessively so (less minty than the Glossier Balmdotcom). I have it in 02 XXL Nude, which is just an easy thing to keep in my purse, and am going to buy it in 07 Pink Pout during the sale.
I am also going to pick up the Refy Lip Blur Lip Liner in Umber. I like the whole blurry lip thing thatโs going on right now and this just seems like itโll be fun to use.
I'm still a big fan of the Sephora Collection Love the Lift mascara, and itโs time for a new tube, so I will be picking that up. Iโm also going to get the Urban Decay 24-7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Smog, a copper shimmer, which I think will also be a fun holiday makeup item.
My Beauty Gifts Recommendations
This sale is also a great time to pick up gifts. This Bold and Blushing Blush and Lip Set also looks great and has my favorite Danessa Myricks blush. And I always get the Mini Candle Sampler Set as a present to myself. But all the Sephora Favorites sets are really good this year. And gift sets are also great to buy for yourself! Itโs a great way to try out some products or to get smaller sizes for travel. This is just a rapid-fire list of some of the ones from brands I like or want to try:
- Summer Fridays Signature Travel Skincare Set
- Tatcha Mini Favorites Set (comes with a bag!)
- Farmacy Youโre the Balm Green Clean Cleansing Kit
- Farmacy Farm to Face Favorites
- Necessaire The Body Essentials โ Trial + Travel Set
- Sunday Riley Go to Bed With Me and Wake Up With Me
- Drunk Elephant Hydra and the Bright Serum Duo
- Biossance Rapid Radiance Set
- Fenty Skin Travel Size Startโr Set with Mineral SPF
- Color Wow Dream Coat Iconic Frizz Fighters Hair Duo Value Set
- Rare Beauty Mini Blush and Luminize Trio
- Tata Harper The Clean Dream Team set
This ended up being a much longer post than I thought it would be! And, of course, I do still like the items I talked about in previous sale posts.
I want to hear from you!
Do you have any products to recommend back? Leave them down in the comments! In the Spring, I followed a recommendation to get the Bobbi Brown corrector stick instead of the cream and I liked it so much I also bought the darker shade in the summer!
I do like Caroline Hirons – she’s who taught me about acids!
Thanks for your recommendations! Before reading your post, I placed a Sephora order (yay Rouge) and got that Refy Umber pencil, too ๐ I have the Plum set and really like it. I’ve been quite curious about the Fenty Hydra Vizr mineral sunscreen–I’m going to try it now that you’ve recommended it. (I never end up placing just one order during the Sephora sale, so it’ll be part of my next purchase.) One thing I want to mention: for an AHA/glycolic acid toner, you might consider the one from Skin Rocks. I know, it’s not in the Sephora sale! But it is truly wonderful, exfoliating yet hydrating, never feels like it strips skin. Just a thought for a rainy day when you want to try something new (if you haven’t tried it already). Thanks again for sharing your experience and suggestions with us. ๐
I just started using LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask–and it is a game changer! I use it morning and night and my lips stay soft all day (I don’t need lip gloss)
Yes! I love skincare, so this post is right up my alley. I also love all Dieux products. I also like Dr. Idriss Depuffer roll on serum and her Major Fade AHA face mask. I put some new products in my cart to try, thanks for the tips.
I am definitely restocking some favorites. Saie Sunvisor, Paulaโs Choice BHA Skin Perfecting Liquid, and Anastasia Brow Gel and Pencils. I also like the new Clinique Moisture Surge Sheer Tint and might buy that instead of my usual Saie SkinTint. I also will be picking a new matte color of the Armani Eye Tint.
