This weekend I went up into my attic for a hot second to find my newborn cloth diaper stash. My friend from college just had a baby and is thinking she may want some additional diapers and I figure, I'm not having a baby any time soon so might as well have them be used by another baby before the elastic is shot, etc. Anyway, I didn't have much time and Emerson was napping (the attic is right above her room) so I grabbed the bin of diapers and headed back out. However, on the way I saw a bin of my clothes and decided bring it down and see what was in there.
It was the most random assortment of clothes. I usually have my clothes in the attic pretty organized by size, by season. However, this bin was created last summer after I tried on all my old Bonnaroo clothes and NONE fit. I went through my closet, my drawers and removed everything that no longer fit and just shoved it in a bin out of my sight. So this bin had suit jackets, cocktail dresses, and cutoff denim shorts all smashed together.
I tried on some of the clothes I brought down… and they all fit!! Some pieces seem too short (something I have encountered post-Emerson due to now having hips), but everything was able to be buttoned and zipped.
This jacket was one of the items in the bin. I remember purchasing this jacket when I was the manager of the Express at Chevy Chase Pavilion, I believe the year was 1999 or 2000. There was a gigantic Limited one floor below my store and I loved visiting it on my lunch breaks. The fabric of this jacket was extremely similar to a suiting line Express had at the same time, so I purchased this jacket to work with the dress and trousers I already owned. I also purchased some jean-style trousers of this same fabric. The pants have long been donated or swapped, but I held on to the jacket because I felt it was such a classic look. Trying on the jacket yesterday, it didn't feel quite as classic. Very boxy, the sleeves very square, and too long. I tried cuffing the sleeves but they were too tight so I took off all the buttons on the cuffs, opened the vents and cuffed again. This is the end result. Love shopping within my own closet… or shall I say attic!
No worries, I know they aren’t the most flattering shoes I own but I love them and wear them anyway ๐ Can’t please everyone, and thank you for your polite and honest comment!
I like your blog….not a fan of the shoes…I dont think they flatter you. sorry. everything else is soooo cute!
I recently discovered your blog and am enjoying reading about your style with a job and daughter. Those booties make your feet look so tiny and cute!
Love your pedicure and I am glad you are rockin the booties without tights again! I think you can pull it off ๐
Alright!! See doing your friend a favour and karma paid you back! I love it when you get back into smaller things you have, I still have a few things stashed away for when I miraculously wake up on day a size smaller ๐
Go you! Isn’t it great when things you have shoved out of sight in frustration fit you again?
