When I shared my post about how to create a back to the office wardrobe for less, a member of the Wardrobe Oxygen community asked where to find refined knit tops. While I shared possible options for the other four items, I didn't for refined knit tops. There are so many retailers to choose from, it needs a whole article on the subject.

Where to Find Refined Knit Tops for Work

While below I focus on refined knit tees and tops as well as sweaters slim enough for layering, I also share some easy-care stretchy blouses that will also be good choices for work and beyond. You will find options in Misses and Plus sizes, and some retailers also carry petites.

Chico's

Chico's is a great place for synthetic and Pima cotton tops that have saturated colors, great necklines, and a variety of lengths and cool details. Chico's carries sizes 0/2-20/22 and I find the fit generous and curve-friendly.

Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor is a personal favorite for colorful and machine-washable tops perfect for the workplace and beyond. Carrying up to a size 18, most of their knit tops are in sizes XS-XXL with petite XS-XL.

Lands' End

Supima cotton, silk blends, cashmere, and more refined knits can be found at Lands' End in rich colors, soft pastels, and classic neutrals. Misses and Petite 2/4-18, Tall 6/8-18, and Plus 16/18W-24/26W.

Kohl's

If you are looking for a place for wallet-friendly refined knits, check out Kohl's. With brands like Nine West and Simply Vera Vera Wang, you can find some nice styles, quality, and colors at a low price. Be careful; Kohl's is one of those stores that carry third-party brands, and if you need to return, it's far more complicated. Kohl's carries a range of sizes, including petite and tall options.

ELOQUII

ELOQUII has gone through a lot of changes over the years, but one thing that has remained consistent is the use of color. While it's not the first place I would go for solid-colored plus-size sweaters, it is a great destination for plus-size machine-washable blouses and tops in beautiful hues. ELOQUII offers clothing in sizes 14-32.

Bloomingdale's

Of all the online department stores, Bloomingdale's is my personal favorite for finding great color. Bloomingdale's has an in-house brand named C by Bloomingdale's that offers reasonably priced cashmere sweaters in various silhouettes and colors. Bloomie's also has a nicely-priced brand called Aqua that consistently offers great color (and prints), though you need to go through to find work-friendly tops and knits. Do know both in-house brands only come in Misses sizes.

  1. I’m glad you mentioned Bloomingdale’s. It’s my favorite department store, by far. They offer free shipping, free returns, a very user-friendly website and wish list, perks for Loyalists, and very good sales. No need to get their credit card to reap the rewards!
