So after Southern Belle's recent rave about MoroccanOil
, I decided to take the plunge. I had $10 worth of Amazon Gift Cards thanks to Swagbucks, and found a $17 bottle at Amazon that had free shipping. It arrived this weekend. I was ready for some “Kardashian Hair” thanks to what so many people find to be a miracle product for hair.
This morning I washed and conditioned as usual and added a small amount of MoroccanOil
to my damp hair. I then ended up running downstairs to switch the laundry, let out the dogs, eat some oatmeal and my hair ended up air drying sans any other product or even scrunching. This is the result (touched up in some places with a curling iron). I am not impressed so far. My hair does feel softer, but I find the scent to be a bit overpowering (I don't like to smell like anything except Burberry London
and clean skin) and my hair didn't act much differently. However I plan to take this MoroccanOil
through a whole battery of tests – straightening, soft waves, next day, with product, etc. I will keep you posted through the process and see if this product lives up to the hype.
This weekend was nice – Saturday we headed to Annapolis to see my friend A and her twin babies. So sweet and cute! Emerson was impressed by the babies, but more impressed with their swings and Jumperoo
(and the family cats). We then went to a local pub for half-price seafood appetizers (yum steamed shrimp with lots of Old Bay
) and some frosty cold beer. Sunday, my sister came over for dinner and to watch the Grammy's and chat about red carpet fashion.
I am not one to do award show fashion recaps – in this day and age where everyone has a stylist and entire fashion entourage, I find it a bit boring and not a true indication of a celeb's personal style. However I do have to snark on one person – Jennifer Hudson. I LOVE me some Jennifer Hudson, and as a fellow Weight Watcher I find her transformation inspiring. However on the red carpet Jennifer rocked a Versace dress… with a visible bra.
I think it's plenty clear that the bra was NOT part of the ensemble. I didn't understand why she wasn't just sewn into the dress, removing the need for undergarments – that was until I saw her outfit for the Aretha tribute.
A very purposeful look that included a visible bra. Really Jennifer? You could just don that bra along with the rest of the ensemble before the performance? Was the bra so difficult to change into backstage? (I see Nick Verreos agrees with me)

And, woah, I almost didn’t recognize Jennifer Hudson. She looks even more different from her current commercials. Beautiful, but the bra is a bit much.

Try Macadamia Oil- I didn’t like Moroccan oil but love the Macadamia (I bought my little bottle which lasts about 2months for 6bucks at Ulta) 🙂 Love the outfit!

I don’t wash my clothes after every wear. I only wash when dirty, and often try to spot clean. Most of my clothes I wash on the gentle cycle and line dry, even if they say they can be tumble dry low. I never use fabric softener or dryer sheets – they actually break down fibers and make clothes more prone to wear and fading. I also use BioKleen detergent which I think is much more gentle than a lot of the popular commercial brands full of enzymes and such.
I also buy clothes I know can take a beating – I don’t usually purchase 100% cotton, especially in black because I know it will fade. I don’t buy cheaply crafted clothes (clothes of all quality levels can be found at all pricepoints). I choose fabrics I know have a reputation for lasting a long time. 🙂
Did you ever have a post about clothing care – your clothing never appears worn, faded, stretched, etc. What is your secret????

Regarding the bra-showage. I’ve been seeing this look all over in candid shots of celebs and non-celebs. I guess we really like to show our cute Wacoals? That’s what I’d be showing anyway. I’m not quite brave enough to do that although when I see it done I kinda dig it.
your hair looks gorgeous! i’d never be able to put oil in my hair- it’s so fine, it would be a greasy mess.

jennifer hudson is lovely but the bra is indeed distracting (not in a good way). and i don’t know if it’s the bra or the bodice of her dress, but the fit is too tight. probably would look a lot better w/out the bra.
Oh, I hope it gets better! I really think when you blow dry it will be. When Gabby went to bed with hers without blow drying, my mom and I were both worried, but it ended up ok. However, I blew it out for her before a dance, and it looked 10x better. I’ve never not blown out when using the product (and I have the same hair type as Katie), so I don’t know how mine would be without drying it. Keep us posted though!
I really bought it for adding strength to my hair and improving the look when I wear it straight. However some people told me it’s amazing for curls. Seems each person uses it in a different way. I love hearing how all of you use this product! 🙂
MoroccanOil has been a savior for my hair. It’s made it stronger, allowed the extra fine bits to grow out, and made it incredibly manageable. But my hair is also fine and straight with a bit of wave. I’m not sure how great it would be at helping curls be curly though… it doesn’t bring out my waves.
