My Wardrobe Today – Friday
You dig our version of a safety gate? We got some fancy-dancy highly rated baby gate before Emerson was born, and before we finished the remodel. Once we installed this banister we realized it doesn't work. My faux Wassily chair fits in there perfectly, keeps the dogs from going upstairs while we're gone, and keeps Emerson (for now) from going up the stairs when we're not supervising.
Striped tee – Gap
Jeans – Ann Taylor LOFT
Boots – DUO
Bracelet – J. Crew via eBay
I just got this shirt in the mail yesterday – the only thing I bought myself from Gap 30% off last weekend. Nothing stellar, but a nice casual top (BTW it runs large – this is an L and it's really roomy). Really soft cotton, and a change from a plain tee. And you know how much I love striped tees this season!
And forgive the hair, I didn't get a chance for a shower this morning. Emerson woke earlier than expected – before I had even had a chance to go to the bathroom. My husband had a photo shoot this morning and was gone from the house by 5:30 so it made for a very chaotic morning. Nothing a little Salon Grafix dry shampoo can't fix. And hip hip hooray for Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey – that stuff really can make me look polished when I barely have my eyes open!
Totally cute outfit and I’m glad I am not the only one who uses chairs for a baby gate, lol.
I own this tee and two more in different colors. I love them! But I did notice one thing about them when I bought them. I noticed that not all of them were made from the same location. I know most tees are made overseas, but the quality seemed very different on the ones made in China. All three that I bought were made in Vietnam. Sounds dumb, but there was a huge diffrence in quality based on origin(in my opinion). Just a note to anyone looking to buy these.
Sorry, for hijacking. Cute outfit, of course!
Not offending at all – honestly I hate it and joke it should be called “Still Life in Grandma’s Hat” because the bowl looks like a hat. Our very good friend painted it, I think when he was in art school and gave it to us as a gift. I don’t think it’s the best place for it, and we do have other better paintings that he has done since, but not sure yet where to put it in our home.
If you saw the whole house, it looks like a darn museum – when you like 8 relatives and close friends who are artists… well we have a stack of pieces in the office upstairs that STILL need to be hung. Feel blessed to have such talented friends but need to figure out what to do with all this art! ๐
Allie, you are such a beautiful lady! I am loving your hair right now, and get so much inspiration from seeing your actual wardrobe choices presented here.
Said as lovingly as possible from a new fan, um, about that still life painting of fruit behind you… Do you absolutely love it? Or is it just filling space? Does it have some sort of history? Just curious. I don’t mean to offend, it is just that, candidly, it seems an odd design choice/location for such a polished, fashionable young woman. Surely there is a story and it is personal for you. I hope it is time-honored and well-loved… but mostly I hope I didn’t offend!
Haha Tara, I TOTALLY knew what you meant. And you can’t see the mushed banana fingerprints on the hem of the shirt – love easy machine washable knits!
That last comment from me made NO sense. What I meant to say was, “if one of them rubs dirty hands on me, IT CAN GO into the wash…” Sheesh. Tara Incognita
Per your post on Wardrobe Oxygen, I’ve been trying to visualize what’s easy but also chic to have to throw on (I’m a SAHM to two young boys.) This is exactly what I need. It looks super-pulled together but if one of them rubs dirty hands on me, into the wash, and it also probably doesn’t require ironing if you get it out of the dryer in time. Thanks for the inspiration! Tara Incognita
I’m SO jealous of your ability to wear the striped tee. I cannot pull that off.
You look great as usual.
My word verification is ABITA. Love Abita beer (it’s local).
I love the colors on the striped tee. And thanks for stopping by my blog again! If I ever make it to DC (I’ve never been!) I will let you know. My college roomie works at the Holocaust museum and I’d love to go there as well.
Very cute! I think your hair looks great, too! Mmm, Black Honey…I haven’t had any of that in a long time…great color and it works on pretty much everyone.
You look awesome! So cute. I think I’m going to have to get some jeans I can tuck into boots!
