My Wardrobe Today – Tuesday
Icky icky yucky rainy day in DC. And I am in desperate need of some new boots. I have my Ros Hommerson “Maryland” black leather boots, but the zipper is busted and I want them an inch shorter in the shaft. I have had them in the trunk of my car for weeks and keep forgetting to take them in to the cobbler. I also really want a pair of darker brown boots that are a bit taller than these. So hard with these mondo ankles and calves!
Sweater – Ann Taylor (no longer available)
Navy scoop tee – Banana Republic
Denim pencil skirt – Ann Taylor (no longer available)
Scarf – H&M (no longer available)
Boots – DUO
Silver hoops, cuff, pocketwatch necklace & ring with green stone
I am very excited to be wearing this ring again! Granted pre-Emerson I could wear it on my right middle finger, but it's nice that it fits on ANY finger again (on left ring finger – holding a place for my wedding set. Speaking of which, I took my wedding set in to a very reputable jewelry shop in DC to get them sized up – haven't worn since my third trimester. Well they are telling me it will be over $400 to resize the two rings. Is this a normal price? Somehow I feel I am getting hosed…
I just bought LL Bean boots in the wide version and find them to be quite roomy even though I typically don’t fit into standard boot widths. Maybe worth a try.
Great tip Callandra, thank you! And to anyone who wants it, size DOWN – it runs a bit big and stretches with wear. Mine pretty much resides at my ribcage all day long these days. May need to check it out and see if they have a smaller size for me!
I love the way you draped your scarf, I’m going to have to try to do that with mine! I wanted to let you know that the denim pencil skirt is still available at the Ann Taylor Factory Outlet stores. If you know what size you need and have an Ann Talor or Loft card they will ship it to you for free. They also have the same style in a thin wale corduroy dark chocolate and camel color, just fyi ๐
LOVE this outfit. The scarf is fantastic, and the monochromatic blue thing you’ve got going on…. very chic. I really need to get me a denim pencil skirt.
I had my platinum rings resized a few years ago, and they had to carefully do my engagement ring because it was engraved… I can’t remember exactly how much but I think $200? However, I’m always afraid of some cheap place replacing my diamonds with fake stones, so it may be worth it to get them done for more money and know that you’re not being cheated in other way. ๐
Yes, love the scarf! I always say I’m going to start wearing scarves and I never get around to it. You’ve given me some food for thought today… ๐
Yep, it’s platinum. http://twoprepsinapod.blogspot.com/ has a BIL who does this and said it was overpriced for this area. Love you reader, you are SO helpful and awesome!
I love that scarf! And the way you are wearing it is so chic.
Is your set platinum? They may have to add more metal to the set to size it and platinum is very, very costly. I know gold is very expensive these days, too. A second opinion is always a good idea, though.
Love your blog!
Adrienne
Thanks for commenting Allison – great name BTW! ๐
I soo wish I bought this scarf in every color they had available that day. I saw Nordstrom was carrying some 60″ square chiffon scarves on their site in the sale dept – not the same but could achieve a similar look!
Hi Allie – I have been following for a while but this is my first comment. Your blog was the very first style blog that I stumbled upon and I’m glad that I did ๐
I’m a bit of a scarf nut and I love love love that scarf you’re wearing!
That is a ridiculous price to get rings sized. Trust me on that one.

That’s what I was thinking, thank you for confirming my suspicions. Will be picking up my rings from them today. Just so pissed they held on to them for so long when I could have probably had the work done by now. ๐
