Saturday and Sunday
Saturday during the day was spent mainly recouping. I did wash curtains and bedding and the dog bed and bathroom to create a well-person retreat, but mainly hung out on the couch, took cat naps and chilled. Saturday night we went out to celebrate my dear friend A's 30th birthday.

Nine of us went out to celebrate. We started with dinner, hit two bars, then had dessert and coffee. Plans were to continue the evening, but we were all feeling pretty pooped (four of us were still recovering from Bonnaroo and one had recently injured his neck and was on meds). It was a lovely evening and we had perfect weather to enjoy dining and drinking al fresco. I of course enjoyed water, but still had a wonderful time!
Somehow I have no picture of me and A from the evening, but here is a pic with my sister and dear friend B from the evening.
Sunday, we took my mom and father-in-law to our favorite Greek diner for breakfast and then I went to my mom's to help her with some computer issues. After that hit the local market for some groceries.
No real need to dress up and I took the chance to wear my new maternity tank that I won off the great blog, Mom Most Traveled. The shirt is from the company [bump] and they have some really cute sayings on their tees and tanks for moms and dads to be. Considering my body is at the changing, yet not obviously pregnant stage, I loved the “I'm not fat!” shirt! Quite appropriate since I have had so many comments (most not published and some in person) commenting on how I am getting fat and how my body just looks lumpy and bumpy, not “with child.” Sort of sucks when you know you have only gained about 5lbs and it's for the good of the little fig (grown from kumquat!). 🙂

Now I am watching soccer with my husband and his friend and will probably soon go and take a nap. Not too exciting, but I want to be able to survive the coming week and not be sick any more.

Congratulations! It’s funny, I was just thinking that recently I have noticed a big change in how you look – your skin looks radiant!! Now I understand that it is the pregnancy glow….
I guess I’ll go against the crowd here and say – go ahead and get some maternity pants. Honestly, I waited so long because I couldn’t bear the thought of being in maternity so early ( at just about 11 weeks). But it’s just a psychological barrier you have to overcome. At this stage it’s not a real bump – just bloat, but even so I felt so much more comfortable (and well supported) in my GAP maternity jeans and looked better too. Going up in size just doesn’t work because it ends up being too baggy in the things, hips etc. Target also has some great maternity wear (although the better styles seem to sell out quick).

Girl — some people are just born to be “haters” — try to ignore them, your pregnant — try to enjoy this time (after the morning sickness subsides). Hey, my girlfriend Amy has a mommy t-shirt business too — http://www.leavemeb.com — she has some really cute stuff too — my favorite is her “love child” tank — it has a little proverb on the inside of the tank right at the belly button area — it is supposed to send good, positive messages to your little Kumquat! Congrats again and take good care of yourself — get pedicures and your hair done — don’t skimp on yourself just because you are pregnant!

Well I think you look great Ali. Your skin looks wonderful and the tank is so sweet. These commenters must be really exceptional people if their weight never fluctuates by 5lbs, pregnant or not!
People can be real, true assholes. Shake off the haters and remove the word “fat” from your vocab for nine (ten) months, because pregnant does NOT equal fat, despite what all the stupid celeb magazines may say. You look fantastic, and you’re right, that baby needs some food love!

The second trimester sure can be tough as far as clothing fit goes! That in-between stage is such a challenge. I can remember coming to tears over it more than once. Some days it feels like nothing fits or looks right.
