Wednesday
So after a shower, some drugs and yoga, I was able to function and get ready for work (though you can still see the hives all over me even in this picture). We have a client deliverable tomorrow so I couldn't call out sick for being The Elephant Man. However I wasn't going to even try to wear cute clothing – soft and stretchy is the fabric for a hivey chick.
White scoop tee from Gap, orange sweater jacket from J. Crew, dark “The Flirt” bootcut jeans from Old Navy, orange and hot pink peeptoe wedges from J. Crew, gold chain from a beach boutique, gold bangle from Ralph Lauren, studs from Diamond Nexus Labs.
Hair is washed and conditioned, added some Jonathan Silky Dirt and dried with a paddle brush.
Makeup is L'Oreal True Match concealer in W1-3, philosophy The Supernatural in Beige, Nars blush in Orgasm, Body Shop eye color in taupe, Too Faced Lash Injection, Maybelline Ultraliner in black, Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey (yep some new goodies, expect reviews within the week!).
After work I am meeting two friends that I have known back from when we all worked at Express together in the late '90s and early '00s. We'll have a few cocktails and reminisce as we snark on the women walking by in LY ๐ (LY stands for Last Year. It was a term we used at Express for last-season clothing that was in a sale rack, was returned, or was sported by fellow females at bars we would visit. Come now, if you lived and breathed one brand of clothing you could pick out even an LY camisole or LY version of a Metro Tee a mile away!)
Dear Brainy,
Just catching up on my WMWT reading and came across the splendid little turd of a comment that you left. I thought you might enjoy reading the following article:
http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/2008/04/04/writing-without-typos-is-totally-outdated/
There’s a word for people like you who take pleasure in criticizing others but who don’t have the courage to also put themselves out there. Hmmm, what’s the word I’m thinking of? Yeah,
it’s pussy.
Bug off and find some other website to troll.
Hey washed out brain – no person has a perfect life, especially not you if you spend your days leaving rude comments on Dilly’s blog. Why the hate?

LOVE this outfit!!! You look great!!!
brainy could also be british in which case, i understand, commas or end punctuation outside the quotation marks would be fine.
Hey LBR:
I agree with you, when I first saw the spring line at J. Crew I was excited, but after trying on pieces and examining it more closely, I can’t find much I would actually want. Hey, my wallet is happy about that! ๐
My dear Candy Heiress:
If you’re wearing it, it’s VINTAGE, not LY! ๐
Shoegal:
You can rock blue like no one’s business. I wear blue and look dull. And you know I drool over your boot collection!
Thanks Gigi and Maz!
Love you in orange!! I am kicking myself for not getting that JCrew (last season ๐ jacket. It is so cute!! I liked last Spring at J Crew better than this season.
You looked fabulous as always Alison!
Now what are you going to say about my 10 year old Limited Skirt I told you about. HA!
It was great seeing you. We need to do it more often.
S
I keep seeing you looking fab in your orange and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before I buy something that colour…
Hi Allie,
Thanks for the link. I’m the same with the typos, it’s really hard when you’re trying to grab a few minutes to post something!!
I love that jacket by the way.
Loving those shoes, girlie!
AND the apparently perfect Brainy Wash Wash put the comma outside of the quotation marks, rather than on the inside where it’s supposed to be.
I had to read that post over and over again thinking it was a joke.
Poor thing! Obviously Brainy needs a life.
This is a great outfit on you!
Hey MK:
Yes, I use about a pea-sized amount on wet hair. I emulsify it in my hands and apply it to the strands, mainly at the bottom because it can look greasy near the roots. It works like a styling lotion – creates hold, a bit of thickness but not crunchy or stiff like mousse.
Grace:
I had never tried it but heard about it so many times. Decided to try it out (just got it yesterday so probably the new formula?). I am a sucker for cult products – usually I am disappointed. I do like this, but I don’t know if it’s the Holy Grail of lip products…
Boutique Girl:
No weight loss but thank you so much! I have taken on yoga a 2nd time a week and am ready to up it to 3x/week so maybe it will firm me up a bit ๐
Amy:
Girl, I am still sporting Express from back when I was an obsessed customer, before they recruited me from the salesfloor! ๐ The quality and style back then was awesome and most looks classic and wearable 15 years later!
Allie, I have been using the Silky Dirt since last summer after reading about it here. I only apply it to dry hair like the directions say but I notice you use it on wet hair….am I reading this right? How much do you use and where on wet hair?
MK
Was wondering if you’d ever used Clinque’s Almost Lipstick Black Honey and if you thought it deserved its cult status. I bought some a month ago and was told by the saleswomen that it was being re-formulated and would be unavailable for a while so I might want to stock up (I didn’t).

I own both the j.crew sweater jacket and shoes all thanks to you! Love your blog!
Brainy wash I am glad you are such a fan of the site to visit every day! And thanks for catching my typos – I write very quickly because I have a full time job that requires my concentration so I do make a few errors. but again, thank you so much for coming by every day ๐ Do you have a blog? I think we would all love to see your daily writing!
Plus, you misspelled “embarrassment” brainy!
LOL!
Lighten up, brainy wash wash!
Hey, Allie, I have dresses from Express from 1993. I wonder what the term would be for that, LOL!
I’m sure you meant to write “reminisce”, didn’t you.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/reminisce
bookmark M/W and save yourself more embarassment! Alternately, if you aren’t sure of the spelling of a word, try choosing a synonym with easier spelling. For instance, instead of “reminise” you could have written “share memories”.
Your jacket is an amazing colour, you really suit that shade!
YOu also look like you have lost weight, you are looking very well.
