Saturday started as usual – feed and play with the dog, head to yoga, and then had tea at the local cafe with my mom and hubby to talk about our week. Ran a few errands.

My sister and my husband's friend came over and we hung out until the evening, when we headed to Columbia for our friend's birthday.

I was sad about the J. Crew dress, then Friday night at Target I found this dress on clearance for about $20; it's from the Isaac Mizrahi line. Made of a heavy pique knit, it is the same silhouette, but a kangaroo pocket in front instead of the band with buttons. Score! Paired it with my trusty “Bern” boots from Duo, my seaglass necklace from Ross and my silver cuff.

We ended up hitting a local pub to celebrate my friend's birthday with about 25 of his other friends and loved ones. It was a very fun and chill evening.

Sunday, I went to breakfast with my sister, mom and husband. No pictures; wore my dark denim skirt from Gap, my black merino crewneck sweater from Banana Republic and my Duo boots. Hair second day, makeup minimal.

The rest of the day was pretty boring: chores around the house, some yoga in the living room, watched Layer Cake and 3:10 to Yuma with the hubby and had leftovers for dinner. Changed from the denim skirt to a pair of black yoga pants from ProSpirit for such festivities.

  1. that totally makes up for the jcrew sailor dress! It sucks when you think something would look so cute on you and then you hate it.. kinda like the story of my life right now! blerg

  2. I have cashmere ones in aqua and avocado green, a poly blend one in purple, and then i have similar shaped scarves/shawls – a charcoal knit with silver threads and an orange crinkled silk with tassels on the end.

The green one I wear almost daily – as a scarf with my winter coat, as an accessory with a dress or sweater. I like unusual colors because they end up complimenting more than black, and most of my clothes are black so they are a great pop of color.

  3. I put on moisturizer, let it sit a couple of minutes, put on primer, again a couple minutes and then foundation. When I don’t let it sit, it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. Also I find when I put on in a downward motion, very carefully instead of running in it has a better result. Hope that helps! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I have a question about foundation primer: How are you supposed to apply it? I took one dime-sized squirt and applied a thin layer all over my face, but didn’t notice any difference in how my foundation went on or my makeup’s staying power. Where did I go wrong?

  5. I wear at you did today – just looped around the neck. I also often loop it and then single-knot the front so it keeps my neck toasty warm. I also fold it in half and pull the ends through the loop, wear it as a shawl, tie it and let the ends hang as a pareo of sorts (great on vacation when hanging around the hotel room), and I sometimes single-tie it and leave one end over each side of the shoulder a la an old-Hollywood starlet.

  6. Love your blog! I get so many ideas from you, thanks! Today I am sporting my pashmina. I have always been afraid to wear it, but I took the plunge today. I have also won another one on Ebay and am watching a third. I think I love them now! Do you have any other ways that you wear them?
