I Know it Made ME Want to Go Shoe Shopping!
Walking around Washington DC this weekend I saw this truck. It was at a red light and I was only one of over two dozen women who had stopped dead in her tracks to gawk/drool over the display. Click on the photo for a larger version.
This truck was an entire ad for Marshall's – both sides were like this. Glass sides holding hundreds of real shoes, and below glass compartments holding real shoe boxes from well-known brands. Pumps, boots, trainers, sandals in all styles imaginable.
Women were stopping and pointing at the styles they liked. They crossed the street with not regard for traffic to get a closer look. Women in jogging suits and power suits alike were admiring the view. I was not the only one to pull out a camera. I would have gotten a few more shots but the light turned green and the truck zoomed off.
The most brilliant marketing campaign I have seen in a long time, I know I am trying to figure out the next time I have available to hit a Marshall's and check out their shoe department!
Good idea I am also thinking of purchasing shoes from CouponAlbum site, one of the best coupons site.
wowza–someone hit an advertising home run with this one. SO cool! makes me want to steal a bus! and as an added bonus, strikes fear into the hearts of football-hardened husbands everywhere (it’s halftime..where is she? not shoes again!)
Oooh thank you! As a Maryland lady, I always like an excuse to head to Annapolis. You just gave it to me! The Marhsalls closest to my home always smells funny; Annapolis is a far better choice!
I recently went to Marshalls and they completely redid their shoe section. It’s 100x better and they offer way better brands. For the record, this Marshalls was in Annapolis (for the Maryland ladies)
You’d see me pressed up against the glass, salivating…
Clearly, I haven’t spent enough time actually walking around DC lately. That’s crazy, but clearly an effective way of advertising. Marshall’s gets some serious creativity points on this one!
Thanks for posting this. very informative!
that looks like an awesome advertising item! I’ll have to go to Marshall’s soon and check out their shoes!
