Beach 0011Beach 0041Dark red crepe jersey dress (with pockets!) from Maggy London (Nordstrom), black croco peeptoe heels from BCBGirls, three gold bangles from Ralph Lauren.

Hair is washed, conditioned, some Brilliant Brunette Shine Shock added while wet. Dried quickly with paddle brush, round brush and dryer. It looked far better but we have the A/C off and by time I got around to photographing myself, I was a sweaty mess.

Makeup is Bare Escentuals mineral foundation in Fairly Light, Maybelline Dream Whipped Mousse blush in Strawberry on cheeks, a touch of Body Shop bronzing powder in Light over face, Revlon ColorStay shadow quad in Neutral Khakis – khaki on the lids. Lashes curled, Max Factor Lash Perfection in black, Maybelline Ultraliner in black on top lash line. On lips is Body Shop Lip and Cheek Tint with a touch of Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pink Afterglow over it.

Wow, in this picture you can see how my nose is still a bit swollen. Nothing major, it feels far better until i need to blow it or rub it… then owie!

I wasn't sure about this dress, but like it now that i am wearing it because I look pulled together enough for a client meeting but feel as though I am wearing my PJs. I also am not showing cleavage, which usually happens in dresses. The fabric is nice, heavier than traditional matte jersey but just as easy-care… will be good for business travel and think it could work in the colder months because of the heavier fabric and darker color.

  1. I know, I have that teeny tiny black spandex cami from Victoria’s Secret just for the neckline of dresses for work. It’s so small, it has been cut to only cover the bust, for it used to roll up during the day. My husband has almost tossed that cami a few times thinking it was trash. 🙂

  2. I love the dress!
I tried it on recently and now I am thinking of ordering it online.

I have the same problem with lots of cleavage in dresses. So much so that if I wear them to work I pin them. Which I hate doing…

    🙂

  3. You look so pretttttyyyy in this dress. It is truly lovely. You impress me more and more every day (inside and out)! Keep up the GREAT work my dear!

  4. Thank you! And thank you for the lipstick recommendations… I saw them at Tarjay and was curious.

I am a strange girl who is pale as crap in the winter but a bit of a yellow/olive tint, with pink cheeks (?) and come summer I turn a very yellow shade of tan. It’s the weird combo of a Russian/Polish Jewish dad and a WASPY trace back to the Mayflower mom…

  5. Love love love your dress!!! DARLING!! Could be totally cute int the winter too, with some kind of cardigan or shrug and stiletto boots. I may have to copy you!

As for red lipstick…. yes, I too have a similar problem. I had trouble finding a ‘true red’ that worked for me. L’Oreal has a Penelope Cruz inspired coral-ish red that works pretty well. (I also like the beige from the same collection inspired by Aishwarya Rai.) I think you and I have similar skin tones (are you a bit olive complected?) so you might want to try it.
