Thursday
Black fine jersey (very sheer, double layer) surplice-neck 3/4 sleeve dress from Lily (on sale at Nordstrom), black snakeskin peep toe heels from BCBGirls, long gold chain from Express.
Hair was washed, conditioned, a bit of Sexy Curly Hair's Curl Power added while damp, dried with a diffuser and crunchy and straight pieces hit with a curling iron.
Makeup is Body Shop bronzing powder in Light, Body Shop Lip and Cheek Tint on the lips with Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Shine that Pink over it. On cheeks is Smashbox Soft Lights in Tint. Eyes, no shadow, just lashes curled and two coats of Max Factor Lash Perfection in black and a thick line of Maybelline UltraLiner in black on top lash line.
Thanks Alison. I was applying too little or too much all at once. Following this made the difference:
“Small amount, build up . . ”
When I apply too much at once, the result just looks dirty.
Thanks again!

Beautiful dress! Very elegant look!
When it comes to bronzer, I feel it’s all about the brush. I have a bronzing brush by Sephora that is soft, big and compact so I sort of buff the bronzer into the skin, reducing the ruddy look or dark spots.
I have been using the one by The Body Shop because well… I got it 25% off because I work for them as an At Home Consultant and I wanted to let my customers know how it works. I like it because it’s not shimmery and not too dark, but last summer I had one by Physician’s Formula that was mulstiple colors with minimal shimmer and I felt it looked less… flat and dirty and more natural. I use the Smashbox Soft Lights to acheive a similar look.
Small amount, build up, big super soft and fluffy brush that puts it on light and even, and don’t forget your neck and collarbone – sun hits there too!
That dress is lovely. I like the one from Wednesday too.
that dress is really elegant
You look absolutely fabulous! Tan definitely agrees with you.
Alison,
Love this black dress AND the one yesterday – 2 different looks and both rockin’
One would never know the dust, dirt and extreme sun you endured – you’ve got a beautiful and refreshed glow.
Speaking of glow – would you give a few quick pointers on bronzer? I picked up a Chanel compact and have been experimenting with it. Some days I like it on me, other days – not so much.
Thanks,
Ava (aka Jean)
