Hair was washed last night and allowed to air dry. I curled a few pieces, then gave up and brushed it out. It doesn't look bad, sorta messy, flippy… good amount of body.

Makeup is MAC MoistureBlend foundation, Body Shop concealer, MAC Blot Powder, NARS Orgasm blush, The Body Shop Sheer Lipcolor in Sheer Caramel. Eyes is Revlon's ColorStay shadow quad in Neutral – ivory in corners, khaki on lid, olive and chocolate belnded and in crease. Lashes curled and covered with L'Oreal Voluminous in black.

And yes, I did say NEW DENIM TROUSERS!!! Whiel on my trip, I visited The Gap and found these new trousers. They are a bit lighter weight than my beloved Ann Taylor ones, and a 12 Regular fit perfectly, not too long and not tight in the waist (woo-hoo, my AT ones were a 14P). They have a nice crease that I will accentuate when I wash with starch and an iron (love me some creased denim trousers!). They are that ringspun denim look, so a very deep dark blackish indigo with flecks of white, but the weight of a heavy twill. Very nice! They also had long lengths at this Gap. not sure if they made Short, they didn't have a single pair at this store (though I saw then range in size from 2-18).

  1. I think as opf late it varies. I went to Anthropologie this weekend; there I usually need to go up a size to fit into any of their brands yet this time a lot of the 14s were too big. I don’t think that’s from my minor weight loss.

But it is true that cheaper brands have more varied of sizes. They cut more pieces at one time for a pattern which causes the pieces on the bottom of the pile to be cut bigger, making the majority of the pieces larger than the pattern. More expensive brands cut less layers of fabirc at a time keeping sizes more consistent.

And yes, some brands specifically run their clothing small to encourage exclusivity.

-Dilly, who found a a Nanette Lepore dress in a 12 to be way too big, but a 14 dress in Gap too small all in the same week…

  2. This is why I should write my posts in Word before I put them in Blogger! Bad sentence structure! I take my pants and wash on the gentle cycle, let them hang dry, then iron while using spray starch to get crisp creases in the legs. I think the creases make the pants look more expensive and elongate my stubby legs. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I have a problem with Gap too, their regulars are usually too long for me! And thier shorts/ankles/petites are usually too short. I like shoes to hit somewhere between the top and the bottom of the heel. For sneakers I usually have less than an inch of shoe showing in the back, a bit of a bend in the fabric in the front.

  4. Great pants! They look terrific on you.

I have an issue with Gap pants, because their regular length is almost always too short for me, and they generally don’t begin the tall length before size 6. I wear a 1/2, and I’m 5’6″, so while I realize my proportions aren’t the norm, it bugs me that a huge chain like the Gap doesn’t accomodate women who don’t fit into the average.

Having said that, I did buy a cute pair of black cargo pants from Gap last week, although I’m still debating whether they’re long enough.

How long should casual pants be? I love my dress pants LONG. Short pants, in fact, are one of my pet peeves. I’m planning to wear the cargos with sneakers, and I’m wondering how far above the ground they shoud be in the back.

    Thanks!
