Gosh I love a wrap dress, and to find one with an orange-based print? I just couldn't resist! And not only all that… it has POCKETS! Woot! I love wrap dresses, they're so easy, travel great, dress up and down nicely, and are flattering on so many figures! While I love me some DVF dresses, they don't love my body, or more specifically, aren't big enough for my body. It's nice to find brands who offer fun prints and a classic fit and for a reasonable price!

This might be a stupid question, but why are pockets good on a wrap dress? Surely in anything soft like a jersey knit, you can’t put anything in them otherwise you distort the lines of the dress really badly and/or stretch it out?
Not a stupid question! I’ll put my Metro SmarTrip card in there, my keys to get to the office bathroom, my lipstick if I don’t want to take my whole purse to the restroom for a touchup, and sometimes it’s just nice to have a place to put my hands 🙂
This dress looks amazing on you. I have never owned a wrap dress with pockets – that’s like winning the lottery 🙂

I added this dress to my wish list. So often I find wrap dresses only in a black/white pattern. It’s exciting to see a fun, colorful pattern that’s under $100!

Allie, if you don’t mind me asking, what size did you go with? Petite or regular? I love this print and any dress that has pockets and sleeves has my interest!
This is a Regular Large; now that I’ve worn it all day I wish I maybe went with XL to have more fabric for the wrap and bust. It works, but a strong wind may have my skivvies on display!

I ordered a DVF dress, checked the size measurements, read the reviews where people overwhelming said the dress ran large, only to receive it and hardly be able to zip it up. I will not waste any shipping on that brand again.
I love her brand’s prints, they’re really unique, but if the dress doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit.
Amen. Even when I was 20 lbs lighter her dresses did not fit my body. I have two size 10 DVFs in my attic from back when I was an 8; even then I had to size up to have her brand fit my figure!
Ali, you look awesome and I love this dress on you. I have two personal problems with wrap dresses, usually. One problem is length, they’re frequently too short, but I can solve that by purchasing “tall” sizes normally, if I can find it. The second, and less solvable issue, is underpinnings. I am becoming more and more opposed to having to wear shapewear or the like to make something look good. If it can’t look good without elastic digging in somewhere across my ribs, I don’t want to wear it. I feel like a dress needs some gathers to avoid needing shapewear. What do you think?
I’m not wearing shapewear in this post, and today wearing the dress under it I have only Jockey Skimmies. I think it’s all about the fabric. I find the silky poly knit a lot of dresses are made out of leave little to the imagination, while a matte jersey (a bit thicker with a matte pebbled finish), a knit like this one, or ponte knit seems to be more forgiving/skim curves better. I was thinking about how this dress is different from the one Grace mentioned above, and why this one may seem less flattering and it may be lack of shapewear. When I wore the other orangey dress, I was in very constricting shapewear that went all the way up to under my bra. Like you, I too am becoming more and more opposed to shapewear and decided for this post to “let it all hang out.” I’m soft and squishy, with lots of curves, bumps, and rolls. They’re going to be there no matter what I wear, I’m sick of being uncomfortable to make other people more comfortable with my appearance, so I’m slowing embracing the softness and letting it be more on display :). As for wrap dresses that work with curves and aren’t too short, I can’t recommend Lands’ End enough! But you have to keep watching the site because their wrap dresses sell out fast!
So interesting to see this dress contrasted (because it showed up as a related post) with the dress from 7/9… Both orangey, printed, wrapped (or maybe faux wrap in the 7/9 case?) I like the 7/9 one better on you, though they are both really nice. Funny how two seemingly similar dresses look so different “on”!
And how different dresses look in person too! The one from 7/9 was primarily red with little touches of orange, but it photographed much warmer. It’s a surplice top, but an empire waist and solid one-piece fit and flare skirt. And while it sure looks flattering in the pictures, I really didn’t think it fit my personal style very well and sent it back.
