happy holidaysEnjoy the desserts without guilt.

If the weather is accommodating, get outside, even if it’s to your front step to take a deep gulp of fresh air and say a little prayer or send out thanks to the world.

Hug everyone and make eye contact.

Get in front of the camera from time to time. Being married to a photographer, I’ve learned that pictures aren’t for those in the picture. They’re for memories, for when you’re far away, for when you’re gone. Don’t let your image issues affect your memory. Feel free to put a child or pet in your lap but please get in those photos. And smile. In fact, laugh!

Give everyone a genuine compliment or share a memory of them with them. Heartfelt words are better gifts than what is wrapped under the tree.

Fun trumps fashion on holidays. Don’t be afraid to be uber matchy-matchy, where hokey earrings, an ugly Christmas sweater, mismatched socks, an antler headband, bright red lipstick or glitter eyeshadow.

Drink a glass of water for every glass of wine/egg nog/champagne/beer/cocktail.

Put down the phone.

Turn off the computer and turn up the music.

Say thank you and be thankful.

I’m thankful for you. This has been an amazing year and I have you to thank for so many of the blessings in my life. It’s been fun getting to know so many of you this year, and to continue the friendship with those of you who have been around for a while. Each year I learn from you, how to be a better blogger but also how to be a better person. I look forward to fun, fashion, and community with you in 2016!

Love,
Alison

  2. Thanks for the lovely message. Merry Christmas to you, Karl, E, your sister, and your Mom.! Love to you also.
