I usually write about music in my monthly newsletter, but life has been really hectic, the newsletter is overdue, and well, music is just too much fun right now to wait. I always love this time of year for new music – the weather is warming, people are getting into the mindset of outdoor concerts and music festivals, toes are tapping for tunes other than Christmas carols and all sorts of albums are released.
I saw Santigold once at Virgin Mobile FreeFest and knew if she came back to town I'd have to catch her show. I have loved Santigold's two previous albums and her latest, 99ยข is just as unique, catchy, and fun. Her interactive video for the single, “Can't Get Enough of Myself” is awesome, as is her performance this week on Jimmy Fallon. I can't wait to see her at the Fillmore Silver Spring this May!
Speaking of upcoming shows, come May I will also be going to see The Kills when they come to the 9:30 Club. Can't deny I have a major girlcrush on Alison Mosshart (you may recognize her voice as she's also in The Dead Weather with Jack White) and if you want to see a band with badass style, Jamie and Alison are it. I saw them at the 9:30 a couple years ago and after that swore if they were ever in town I wouldn't miss it.
If you're like me, you've got quite a mix of music interests. I believe one can like many, even all music genres but sometimes it's tough to prove your love of a rock band when you're also a fan of Top 40 pop. How can one justify their love of both Nick Lachey and The Foo Fighters? Now you don't have to!
Any music that you're into right now? I'd love to know what you've been listening to!

Saturday during the day was spent mainly recouping. I did wash curtains and bedding and the dog bed and bathroom to create a well-person retreat, but mainly hung out on the couch, took cat naps and chilled. I have a bunch of half-completed posts going into fall fashion trends that have been delayed as I am trying to get caught up after my eye surgery. They’re coming, but to make an easy low-research post to get your fall sartorial juices flowing, I thought I’d share my thoughts on fall trends, and how… Continue Reading How I Shop My Closet to Embrace Fall Fashion Trends

My husband and I like both death metal and Taylor Swift. Try justifying that ๐
We saw Ginger Baker about a year ago in Yoshi’s (SF Bay Area club). Sorry to hear he is not well. He was amazing back in the day, and remarkably, he’s still got it!
I should have really taken advantage of the music scene more when I lived in the DC area. Now that I’m in Cumberland I sometimes have to drive 2.5 hours to see anyone. We do have a major bluegrass/newgrass/jamband festival here every year but I wish I could pick and choose the bands I want to see over the three/four days without paying an arm and a leg.
I seem to have gone to a lot of concerts in the 80s and 90s and was glad I got to see a lot of those bands, parking and stadium venues keep me from wanting to go to a lot of concerts and shows. Getting old, I guess!
It’s so true, I am more picky with what venues I’ll go to, hardly ever go to a weeknight show or a show in a big stadium because I just don’t want to deal with all the issues and drama. Could be getting old, or learning from experience and choosing only quality! ๐
Do you use Spotify? You should totally create a playlist of favorites. I’m always looking for new stuff and we seem to have similiar tastes. Enjoy the weekend!

Galactic! Love them. My husband went to high school with their drummer, so we’ve been to a number of their shows when they come to town.
I love Santigold! She’s coming here very soon but the show is on a Monday. I HATE that!

Great idea I’ll do that with the next post like this!
