This Works Every Time sweater from Stella Carakasi is my first alpaca sweater but it won't be my last. Oh. My. Goodness. If you have never experienced alpaca knit you really must. It's so soft, so lofty, co cozy. But that's not the only benefit to alpaca. It's more sustainable than cashmere, stronger than cashmere, and less likely to pill.ย Unlike wool, alpaca is less itchy and doesn't have lanolin or dander which can cause allergic reactions on some people.ย It doesn't shrink when washed, resists odors, wicks away moisture, is lighter weight and even flame resistant!ย This is a sweater I won't be packing away come summer, it's one I'll be snuggling up in with shorts on a breezy night at the beach and tossing in my carry-on to slip on when it gets chilly on a plane and I know it can handle the travel, the stuffing, the wear.ย Lurrrrve!
I love and still regularly wear my faux leather-front pants (seen here), but wanted something I could wear more casually.ย I can't find a replacement for my pants, and I want to preserve them.ย I saw these on Amazon and the price was nice (less than $35).ย I usually find leggings and skinny pants are too tight on my calves, so I went with a 14.ย While they fit fine on my legs, they were loose on my waist, belly, and rear and it has only increased with wear and washing.ย I'll be honest, the leggings were cinched at the waist and safety pinned for this post.ย I wear them all the time, but they are too baggy to be worn with anything but tunics and other pieces that cover my crotch and rear.ย I'm going to take them to be altered, it's worth it because otherwise I really like them.ย But a warning if you do consider buying them, consider going down a size, possibly two if you have slim legs.
Nice tip’s about Alpaca!! Important if hand washing use cold water and NOT dryer. However is better dry cleaning. @wardrobeoxygen:disqus

Wow! Thank you for sharing Allie. Full disclosure, I work for Stella Carakasi, and this is one of my favorite pieces. Your styling gives me the such outfit inspiration…I am a big fan of the faux leather leggings too! There is something about the textures that you combined that is completely wearable, flattering, and unexpected! Love!
Great nail varnish colour!! What is it? I bought some alpaca products when I was travelling in Peru and whilst the jumper shrank like crazy (sniff!) the scarves are still going strong and getting softer as they go! This jumper looks like an awesome cut but I would definitely be careful with the laundry as it looks like quite a loose knit…
I don’t know the color exactly, it’s the brand Perfect Match and I picked it at the nail salon, it only had a number on the fake nail it was painted on. Yes, I plan on dry cleaning this sweater, I fear washing it will affect the shape and weave!
Love this look. You have been killing it lately! You’ve definitely found your “rocker mom” style and it is an inspiration to us all!
This sweater is ageless…I think what I really like is the asymmetry of it—absolutely perfect.
As a knitter, I will say that alpaca does shrink when washed (I accidentally felted some slippers –one layer was alpaca & that layer felted twice as much as the wool layer), which is why the company probably says to hand wash! (I don’t mean to be a know it all—I just didn’t want you to have a shrunken sweater)
My friend even has 7 alpaca —they are not cuddly animals—but you’re right—their fiber is super soft!!
