I love wearing vintage. I dig the cool prints, the quality fabrics, the unique silhouettes.  However, vintage is harder to find once you hit double digits in dress sizes. Whether it's a vintage clothing boutique or my local thrift store, pickings get slimmer the larger you are. I've had the most luck finding larger size vintage at Etsy.

Get yourself a tape measure, and measure wearing the bra you'd normally wear. Add a bit to those numbers to account for those who may have hastily measured their vintage pieces, and head to Etsy. Most vintage pieces are sold by measurements, not dress sizes since dress sizes vary from country and decade. If you have questions, ask them.  Etsy sellers are happy to reply to queries with more measurements, pictures of tags and seams and more. This dress arrived in the mail on Thursday and the next day I wore it out.

These photos were taken at Blue Bottle Coffee at their Union Market DC location. My friend Angelica Talan from the blog Clarendon Moms hosted an event at Blue Bottle Union Market and invited a small group of local DC influencers to network and get to know Blue Bottle Coffee (which BTW is delicious!). She had photographer Anna Darlak on hand to capture candids from the event but also captured these photos of me in my new to me dress!

Since going full-time with blogging, I have been able to attend more in-person events like this one, and get to know fellow bloggers in the DMV (District, Maryland and Virginia). There are some amazing folks making great content out there, and it's so nice to get to know them beyond their Instagram handles and become friends. The group photo above is me posing with Drea of Mommy in the District and Lisa of Gracefully So. This photo is with my friend Tanvi. Thank you, Angelica, for hosting such a great event!

  1. YOU LOOK spectacular in that vintage maxi !
For me the best part about vintage in addition to quality is the fact that the odds of running into someone wearing anything remotely similar are sooooo not happening !

  2. What a fun post! I love (vicariously) that you get to do these experiences more now. And I adore that dress. Vintage can be so great! You have to be careful to find a piece like this that both has a great retro vibe yet feels somehow current. You hit the jackpot on this one.
