Had a bit of an unexpected hair cut this past Friday and am still trying to figure out how to make it work. Decided to combat to un-sassy feeling of the new hair with the sassiness of this dress (and also it's as comfortable as a nightgown). I mentioned it in a previous post, but am finally wearing it. It's a bit out there for the office, but today I know I'll be hiding out in my cube and at least it keeps me warm when the office is chilly!

How was everyone's weekend? Ours was pretty busy, but full of good things with good people. However I don't really feel rested from it and hope to get some early bed times this week to catch up!

  1. Sassy chic, girl! I was wondering, how do you deal with maxi skirts/dresses dragging on the ground? I feel like that’s the number one thing keeping me from holding me back from wearing them. Somehow hitch them up so they don’t touch? Or just suck it up and hope the hems don’t get too damaged/dirty throughout the day?

  2. I’m running out the door so I wasn’t going to comment but I love this look so much I just had to say something! It’s elegant yet looks comfy and that gorgeous necklace makes it fun and not too dark. Bravo!

  3. Is the tank underneath actually part of the dress? Or did you layer? I like this look, I don’t think I could pull it off though! You do wear black very well and this hangs very nicely!!

  4. Woo! One hot mama! Loving this whole look, Allie. The all black makes you look so tall, but the fit is really rockin’ all your curves! And I’m totally adoring every golden accessory… the whole look is so posh. Hope you’re well!!! ~Sarah

  5. So when I saw your hair I said to myself

    I said

    “AHHHHHHH”

because when I’m jealous about things I scream like a petulant child. It’s why I have had to use a combination of white lies and extortion to keep my roommates from moving somewhere less rambunctious, like their boyfriend’s apartment or under an awning behind the 7-11.

Realest possible talk though. Hair is great and all these black outfits scream “CHIC CHICK” to me.

  6. Allie,

I know I’ve said it before but you always look so striking and glamorous in black! I like all your black outfits.I’ve been trying to analyze why black works so well for you but not for me. I have pretty much the same coloring as you, but what a difference!

I’m a little envious,Black looks awful on me. It even did when I was a tan, thin 19 year old. Black on me looks like I’m going to a Dia de los Muertos party. In fact that’s the only time I can reasonably get away with it. I recently donated a crew neck, long sleeve, chunky black sweater I love but can’t make work. I’ve tried all sorts of scarves, turtlenecks, jewelry, cardigans, and jackets to locate other colors around my face. I finally gave up. When it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.

I get it that you are unhappy with your last hair appt but from here your hair looks very good. I wouldn’t have known you were having issues if you hadn’t brought it up. Now here’s a comment that is quite personal, but positive. You have a great butt. The dress shows it off well.

  7. I love it when people say “No Offense BUT” what possible other motive could you have with that comment OTHER than to be offensive? No doubt this comment was made by someone wearing sweatpants and Uggs with their hair in a knot on top of their head. Allie, you always look fabulous!

  8. This dress is gorgeous! Such a sleek, sophisticated profile, yet looks utterly comfortable. You look AMAZING. How does the sizing run for this brand? I’m a very similar size to you, but live in Australia so can’t try outfits on in person, which is why I always ask? ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. This is a Large and I think would work from a US 12-16 comfortably. The waist can be moved around, I have it lower with heels and higher with flatter shoes. I washed in the machine on the gentle cycle and line dried and it turned out great!

      1. I’m a 10-12 these days, leaning towards 10 in dresses and skirts – would you go for a medium if you were me? Thanks for your help!

  9. Ooooh, I love the dress! It looks like it’s as comfortable to wear as pyjamas (cos who doesn’t just want to wear their pyjamas to work sometimes!) but has, as you say, sass. I vote awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. crap. I think that the sides look great- your curls/waves look awesome. Hopefully one day soon you let us know what products you use and your routine with that…

    1. Not that Allie needs defending, because she holds her own quite well, thank you. but I consider Allie a friend and you are out of line. How is your post at all valuable to Allie or any of her readers?

Perhaps you need to start your own general blog where you can spew your vitriol to your heart’s content. If you already have such a blog, you need to write on it more often so you won’t feel the need to go trolling around attacking people.

  10. I have to be honest and say that the dress is not my cup of tea as it covers so very much and yet leaves the only shoulders bare. It definitely looks warm, though. But, I do love the bangle bracelets and the necklace!

  11. This dress looks fabulous on you. More of an evening look but I could see it with a blazer for the office.

    bisous
