I hope today you get the chance to go outside and spend it with people you care about. Independence Day is one that has been affected by the recent administration. While our country is in turmoil right now, I don't believe in throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I still love this country and will fight for it to return to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. And I hope to spend this evening watching fireworks with my community.

  1. Might Canada accept the thousands who are crossing our border? We are not prepared for the invasion and lawmakers are slow to provide funds and tighter immigration laws.
Yes Americans are fighting to keep our amendments intact, including the 2nd to protect our home and family. When seconds count, the police are just moments away!

  2. Alison, thanks for always being willing to comment on whatโ€™s happening in our country right now. I never thought weโ€™d regress so quickly & just hope we can get back on the right track. Liberty & justice for all would be good!

  3. Yes, America is still the land of the free and home of the brave. No more genuflecting or apologies. Everyone be safe!

    1. Hi Sophia – see Lee’s post. I am a Canadian married to an American (who is unbelievably grateful to have citizenship in Canada). As a country, we are far from perfect – but what is happening in your country makes my physically ill. Until the US has strict gun control laws that protect innocents from being murdered, until children are not being caged in deplorable conditions, until women’s rights are respected in every state, until the President and his party stop breaking laws with impunity and threatening the fabric of the US”s democracy, home of the “free and the brave” is just a lie. And as Alison notes, it’s still not hopeless if more Americans will stand up against white supremacy, racism, bigotry and misogyny.

      1. Agree with you Brenda! The refugees are not an “invasion” as Sophia calls it. And we have a huge country: 300 million people in 50 states over 2.3 billion acres of land. It’s kind of silly to say “we don’t have room.”

Alison, thanks for your words and for all the sale tips!
