Today I felt like letting my inner rock star out for a bit.ย Since I do have to be at work, I toned her down with traditional trousers, but really thought this mix of patterns was fun.ย I feel a bit like a corporate Steven Tyler with this scarf.ย I wanted to wear my black pointy-toed pumps but realized I had left them at work so out came the booties.
How was everyone's weekend?ย My husband shot a wedding Saturday and I came along as assistant.ย The rest of the weekend we spent enjoying our town's Labor Day festival – carnival rides, funnel cake, even a parade!ย It was nice to have an extra day off to recharge my batteries.
You look GREAT. And I got that same Steven Tyler vibe, though you’re definitely more put together!
love how you mixed both prints together its beautiful!!!!

I really love this look. I would love to replicate the basic ‘shape’ of this look with some trousers and a top…but don’t know if I can tuck the top with a short waisted pear shaped figure. What do you think?

I think you can and you should try. We often don’t try certain things in fashion to minimize or camouflage parts of our bodies, but by doing that it sometimes brings more attention to them. Women have curves whether we tuck or not. I hesitated tucking because of my tummy and rear but when I tried it I think it was more flattering to my curves. ๐
This is a great outfit on you – one of your best! I have several long scarves that I can’t figure out how to wear as I’m only 5 ft. tall – this post has inspired me to try wearing them.
You look awesome in this, and I have to ask, what kind of lipstick are you wearing? It really stands out against your scarf in the third picture. I love it!
Thank you! It’s Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle, with a little swipe of Revlon Balm Stain in Romance.
Love, love, love, love, love it! nice outfit, you look great! ๐

Corporate Steven Tyler. Love it. Laughing. Snorting water out of my nose. ๐
Oh my goodness, you look great! What a wonderful, bold look!
Gracey
The mix of prints definitely works for me actually! (I am normally a skeptic when it comes to mixing quite different prints but I think because these are both striped (of sorts) it all actually works!) You’ve inspired me to take another look at my own wardrobe.
Small things I would ideally like to change:
a) to have seen the scarf tied another way as I’m not sure it does good things for your neck.. (sorry!)
b) I know you were channelling rock chick but it would be cool to also see the look with your hair pinned up (scruffy chignon rather than sleek pony, so still with that cool vibe) so there’s not quite as much competing with the prints?
I respectfully disagree. The rock star does not worry about competing and “busy”. I think if you put your hair up, the point would be missed. I would actually love to see you drop restraints and amp it up with boots, ragged jeans, and more jewelry for the weekend! Rock on!
Oh yes, I wore this and thought how amazing it would look with some really distressed boyfriend jeans… may have to do that for the next concert I attend! ๐
Long time reader, very infrequent commenter stopping in to say that I love this!! The first time you wore this blouse it really caught my eye. I would never have the guts to wear something so bold, but I really wish I could because I think it is so striking!! I can’t explain it but it might be my favorite!
You should try it! I have shied away from prints for a long time because I never felt they were as versatile and so memorable, but now that pattern mixing is en vogue it gives more opportunities to be creative with prints, and they become classics ๐
Totally hot! Yet also great for work. Love it ๐
