How to Style Ivory Courdory Pants for Grown Women
I always look forward to Talbots in fall and winter; the fashion is so stylish, on trend, yet also classic. I was already eyeing Talbots Stretch Corduroy Pants after a recommendation by a member of the Wardrobe Oxygen Community, and I saw so many additional styles that I'd like to wear this season. I decided to get them and share my suggestions on how to style ivory corduroy pants for grown women.
I tried the Talbots Greenwich Pants in-store and loved how they were comfortable yet refined, comfortable like athleisure but polished enough for the workplace or a social occasion. I went with the ivory corduroy pants because I could think of so many ways to style them!
How to Style Ivory Corduroy Pants
The Talbots Stretch Corduroy Straight Leg Pants are available in 10 colors, and Misses, Petite, Plus, and Plus Petite sizing from 2-24. They are also available in a curvy fit. Not wanting these too tight, especially in a light color, I chose a size 16 petite and am glad I went with this size.
I have been a Talbots fan and customer for decades, and my closet shows it. This look is a mix of current and past Talbots pieces that all looked great together, with the addition of the ivory stretch corduroy pants. The black turtleneck is a previous year's version of the Talbots Perfect Turtleneck sweater. The topper is not currently available at Talbots; if I didn't own it I would totally go with this gorgeous coat which would perfectly match my Talbots holiday capsule wardrobe!
Typical Talbots, pieces from season to season coordinate. I got this duster in the fall and the tote in the spring and they match; you can see me style it this last February. I have Talbots bags that are years old and still look stylish and have the quality to endure. This leather satchel in Talbots current collection looks like another fantastic bag that will remain stylish for years to come.
I've owned a leopard calfhair belt for many yearsโit may have been from Talbots before my daughter was born! How gorgeous is this leopard calfhair belt offered at Talbots this year?
This is a version of an outfit I've worn for years, though usually it's styled with jeans. Switching out denim for ivory corduroy elevates the look and gives a dressier vibe. I envision a piece at least three ways before adding them to my wardrobe. Here are some other ways I thought of styling the Talbots Stretch Corduroy Straight Pants:
- With a denim shirt, it can be worn untucked, with the bottom 1-2 buttons and the top 2-3 buttons unbuttoned, or else tucked in, or a half tuck if you so desire. You can wear it with loafers or Chelsea boots.
- With a matching ivory sweater. A cableknit, with a crew or even mock or turtleneck, left untucked, with suede sneakers or ankle boots. Add gold jewelry for shine; monochromatic looks are very chic this season.
- With a Breton-striped sweater. Choose one with a dark ground and then whether the stripes are white or ecru, they will look to match the ivory corduroy pants.
- With a tweed or wool blazer in a darker color. Style over an ivory ribbed turtleneck for a column of color, or a classic black or navy base layer would look elegant. Carry the dark color down to your shoes with flats, loafers, or ankle boots in leather or suede.
- With a silky blouse. Whether it's printed with touches of ivory, or a solid color, tuck the blouse in and finish the look with an elegant leather belt that matches the color of your footwear.
- With a puffer vest. Heading to a firepit or outdoor event? Up the coziness of your cords with a turtleneck, puffer, Chelsea boots, and a beanie to match! If the puffer isn't ivory, consider an ivory sweater or just colorblock with a variety of shades.
Why Consider Ivory Pants for Fall and Winter
Ivory is an elegant way to elevate your existing wardrobe. Corduroy is very on trend along with other cold-weather fabrics with texture like tweed and boucle, and also fits the classic vibe of this season. Machine wash and tumble dry low, you can feel comfortable wearing out for a coffee date and dribble your latte. Ivory looks great with other neutrals, but also looks stunning with neons, jewel tones, metallics, and icy pastels.
Alison, you’ve truly mastered the art of styling those ivory corduroy pants!โบ๏ธ The versatility you’ve showcased with different outfit combinations is impressive. And your suggestions for various pairings provide great inspiration for readers looking to elevate their fall and winter wardrobes. HOn a different note, I couldn’t help but notice how fabulous your hairstyle looks in the pictures! Out of the theme, but I just had to say it.
I prefer wide leg pants (straight leg pants aren’t for everyone’s body shape) and a nice jacket of the same material so you could wear the turtleneck sweater underneath or shirt like jacket of the same material in colors that the pants come in would still allow for the turtleneck sweater to be worn underneath. These jackets/shirts would camouflage a body shape and give a neat look!
This is one of MY favorite looks, but wear a crew neck instead of a turtleneckโฆcanโt stand the constriction of a turtleneck! Sometimes even a mock turtle is too much. Iโve got these same cords. Iโm 5โ4โ and sometimes wear an 8 regular and sometimes a 10 petite in Talbots pants in order to get the length just right. Love the quality of Talbots! Iโll be checking out your suggestions for alternate stylings.
Nice pants! But as usual, Talbots does not offer any of their great new styles in a Tall inseam. I just don’t get it — it’s as if they’ve completely given up on that demographic, deciding instead to market to petites, curvy petites, regular, curvy regulars, and every other person but a tall one.
Agree! There are no Tall Women departments in stores.
There are only a few places to get Tall size clothing regularly.
I’ve had good luck with Lands End.
PS I still love this blog, even though it’s not geared to my tall self.

I’m not even super tall (5’8″) and Talbots regular lengths are too short most of the time. I guess it’s not the retailer for me!
Am am not technically a tall either (at 5’8-1/2″) and although I like to use Talbot’s as a ‘safe’ bet for straight leg jeans when in a pinch, they are always a tad short. I also find their jeans and corduroys stretch out too much and become baggy. I am trying the 90’s vintage straight jeans now at GAP and have had hit-and-miss success.
Love the ivory cords, black turtleneck and leopard print belt on you, classic outfit, very current, and very flattering. Just a note- I got my Universal Standard mystery boxed -2- Aspen nights, and Lux box? loving the items. When I opened it, 2 ivory pieces, 4 black items, I was kind of bummed -no bright colors. But, then started trying on-heaven, a double breasted blazer with dress pants, black, ivory mock turtle neck ribbed sweater. Black ribbed knit pants, with black ribbed tank -yeah I look 2 sizes smaller- and a ivory ribbed sweater, to either layer over it, or create a wrapped top. Love the outfits, and they sent me 2 full outfits- heaven! Thanks for sharing Universal Standard, I am looking forward to their new collections, even though the mystery boxes have been discontinued. Have a blessed week!
Lots of items to like this fall at Talbots.
But I have to remind myself that (1) Iโm only in the office 1 day/week & (2) Iโm retiring in less than 2 years. So do I really need X?
I am going to check the ponte pants out tho. They sound like something that would be nice & usable post-retirement.
Question: did I miss info about the boots you are wearing? They look like what Iโve been looking for, & wh3n I searched Talbots I didnโt see them. Thx.
The boots are from Dolce Vita but Talbots has a similar style: https://bit.ly/46qAGJA
Is it the Fifi Dolce Vita boot? I also love the look of the ones you’re wearing and trying to track them down.
I got the brand wrong, theyโre actually the SARTO Fabiene, which come in wide https://rstyle.me/+A9T0OYOl6cSxInfP4Q19Fg
Ack my bad theyโre SARTO Fabiene https://rstyle.me/+A9T0OYOl6cSxInfP4Q19Fg
