There seems to be only three other people in the office today. No meetings, and most of my clients are already gone for Thanksgiving. Doing a lot of organizing, cleaning up, prepping for upcoming work events as next Monday we go back to busy insanity. Enjoying this calm before the storm…

Tomorrow, as we do every year, we will be heading to my mom's house. She will have about 10 people there and we'll have our classic New England Thanksgiving meal. Thanksgiving is my mom's holiday – we usually have the same dishes (friends and family will bring unexpected desserts and I will be getting wild and crazy with a roasted Brussels sprouts dish but otherwise same food the past 30+ years). We have dinner between 3-4pm, usually go for a walk afterwards, and then hang out together sipping wine and giggling about things only family and like-family friends would find funny.

Sunday is a family reunion for my husband's family – it's in Maryland so not a crazy trip and will be fun to see some I haven't seen since our wedding or my baby shower! The rest of the weekend is pretty open and for that I am very grateful!

What are your holiday weekend plans? Any special Thanksgiving traditions?

  1. Love the outfit today – this length skirt, coupled with the tights and black shoes really makes your legs look long! I love pairing a short skirt with a more covered up top like a turtleneck.

  2. Oh that sounds like fun! My mom LOVES to have a ton of people at Thanksgiving but we have few family members left so it’s usually around 6-12 people.

So excited to have it be sweater weather again, I have had this one for about a decade, such a classic silhouette!

  3. I am wearing a very similar turtleneck sweater today! Great minds think alike (or are at least on the same cozy-fall-style wavelength)

This year I’m hanging out with my in-laws… my fiance’s extended family is HUGE (think 50+ people, plus close family friends) so we’re doing it pot-luck style. It’s one of my favorite dinners of the year, because when I was growing up it was jut me, my parents, and my sisters and brother. I love having so much family around!

    Happy Thanksgiving, Alison! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Cute outfit ( I have a soft spot for black turtlenecks and tights!) Have a good thanksgiving! I am looking forward to eating good food, drinking good beer, and shopping a little (not too crazy- we will be in small town USA where there will be no black Friday madness!)

  5. I love this outfit Allie!  I’m a little biased since I love black.  I will be working tomorrow, but I’m hoping to get out early.  Since it is just the hubs and I, we will be hitting up Cracker Barrell or our old reliable Asian buffet.  LOL.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

  6. I think this is really cute – the shorter skirt balances out the roll-neck really well, and the shoes give it a nice rocker vibe.  Thumbs up!

LOVE when families co-mingle for holidays! My mom and sister go to my husband’s aunt’s for Christmas, it’s a great tradition!

  8. Going out of town to see hubby’s family.  MIL is in mid-80’s now and hubby wants to spend as much time as possible with her.  We’re even taking my mom this year!  Should be fun.  Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving Alison to you and your family.

BTW, I love how you answer your comments.  I don’t see that on many of the blogs that I frequent.
