I swear by fleece-lined leggings in the winter, but not all of them are created equally. They pill, get threadbare, sag, and are just not terribly warm. Below, I share the best fleece-lined leggings available in misses and plus sizes. For each style, I will share the size range and whether it is available in lengths.

If I have tried them personally, I will share my feedback. The rest are based on feedback from friends, fellow influencers I know and trust, and you, the members of the Wardrobe Oxygen community.

1. L.L.Bean PrimaLoft ThermaStretch Fleece Tights (my personal fave)

I first bought a pair of these L.L.Bean leggings… it must have been 2016 as I wore them to the 2017 Women's March, and I only got a second pair because my clothing size changed. And the ones I got… either last year or the year prior, are exactly the same: great quality, design, fit, and warmth. I've even loaned them to a friend who was visiting Iceland, and she said they were fantastic for her trip!

Available in Misses, Petite, and Medium Tall from XS-XL and Plus 1X-3X, the inseams for the L.L.Bean PrimaLoft ThermaStretch Fleece Tights are Regular 28″, Petite 26″, Medium Tall 30″, and Plus 28″. The exterior is abrasion and wind-resistant without feeling coated or plastic-y. The interior is soft and moisture-wicking, and there is a drawstring at the waist for a custom fit. If you wish for more than the small pocket at the back, L.L.Bean also has a version with zipper thigh pockets in the same size range.

2. Athleta Rainier High-Rise Legging (a close 2nd favorite)

I love the Rainier leggings from Athleta; I first bought a pair in 2020 and a second pair last year in a different color and it's hard to tell which pair is older! These have compression; if you don't want that size up. They will still look good, but be a more relaxed fit nice for winter walks and sitting by the fire pit. With zipper thigh pockets and reflective accents, these are great for outdoor activities while keeping your essentials (and yourself) secure.

The Athleta Rainier High-Rise Legging is available in sizes XXS-3X in regular length, sizes XS-XL in tall length, and sizes XS-L in petite. The inseams are Regular/Plus: 27″ Petite: 25″, and Tall: 30″. I am 5'3″ and comfortably wear the regular length, though there's a hint of puddling at the ankle above my shoe.

3. Eddie Bauer Glacier Peak Fleece-Lined Tights (friend recommended)

The Glacier Peak Fleece-Lined Tights are Eddie Bauer's warmest fleece leggings. My friend found them perfect for a trip to Alaska two years ago. She still wears them and loves how well they have held up. If in doubt, size up, as some find the thicker fabric a bit restrictive.

Eddie Bauer's Glacier Peak Fleece-Lined Tights are available in three colors: Regular XS-XXL, Petite S-L, Tall M-XXL, and Plus 2X-3X. As for inseam, I am not sure as the site claims all are 27″ long; however, many reviews say they run long.

4. Title Nine Crash 2.0 Polartecยฎ Tights (petites & long!)

A customer favorite for many winters, the Title Nine Crash 2.0 Polartecยฎ Tights gets rave reviews for truly keeping one warm for hikes and activities in cold weather. My friend in Massachuttes swears by these, and I am impressed by reviewers from Alaska to Maine giving them five stars.

I have not tried these Title Nine leggings because the size range isn't as extensive as I'd like. However, they have lengths, which I know is important to many. Available in Regular, Petite, and Long sizes XS-XL, Regular has a 29″ inseam, Petite has a 26″ inseam, and Long has a 31″ inseam.

5. Lands' End High Rise Serious Sweats Fleece Lined Pocket Leggings (cozy athleisure)

For those looking for a warmer version of traditional leggings that are not designed for performance during winter activities, I love the Lands' End High Rise Serious Sweats Fleece-Lined Pocket Leggings. They're warm, they're not tight, but they provide a sleek look that is great for cold days out and about or cozying up at home.

6. Wool& Summit Leggings (not fleece but had to share!)

Okay, these aren't fleece leggings, but the Wool& Summit Leggings have to be mentioned if you're looking for high-quality, cozy winter leggings and are comfortable wearing wool. I got a pair a couple of years ago and really like to wear them around the house, under dresses, and as a base layer under snow pants or wind pants.

Made from 68% merino wool, 22% nylon, and 10% spandex, the Summit Leggings are great for travel as they resist odor and wick moisture and can be worn in place of tights or slipped under jeans and pants as a cozy base layer. If you desire more warmth, the Terra Leggings are like ponte and made from 71% merino wool, 24% nylon, and 5% spandex. Sizes XS-3X in the regular length, and sizes S-XXL in long.
