Corduroy is back in a big way, and as usual, cabi is ahead of the curve with fashion trends, offering their cord Journey Jacket this season. I'm a bit shell-shocked from my elementary school years practically starting a fire as I walked to class in my cord jeans but I'm liking the idea of corduroy for blazer, dresses, and jackets.  And this jacket is one that I bypassed online but when I saw it in person I saw how perfect it was for the season.

Just as I love navy and black together, I love mixing brown with black.  This scarf which I've worn so much this season (see it in this blog post and this blog post) incorporates the two colors together and makes it easy.  Since the blazer is thicker, I kept with a lightweight base layer.

As for these boots… when DUO was closing up shop to make room for Ted & Muffy they had their leftover inventory on a steep discount.  I bought these boots… and they didn't fit.  And they were a final sale.  I never got around to selling them on Poshmark, I guess I was hoping they'd someday fit.  Well that day is now! I was cleaning out my closet and found the boots, still in the original box and tissue and tried them on and was psyched to find they fit!  Like most knee-high boots they are a hair too tall and poke out on top a bit like a pirate.  I've had other pairs tapered by a cobbler and plan to do the same with these to get a custom fit.

  1. I love this whole equestrian look, but what blew me away are those awesome boots! They look fabulous on you!! I recall your love of boots from your posts long ago and you always chose styles that flattered and fit well. These are no exception. I may have to add a similar style and look to my own collection.

  2. I love love love that jacket! I am a plus size gal though and I appreciate that you often include plus size alternatives. But I don’t think the Loft blazer looks anything like this cool jacket. Can you tell me what the fit is like? Because if it’s loose (especially in the arms), the 16 might fit me. I am right between a 16-18 and usually go up in jackets, but I so want to try this. Would be happy to give you the affiliate commission if you think it will work for me!

    1. Yep that blazer is not the same. I looked forever for a similar jacket in plus sizes to no avail, that was the best I could find. I think this jacket runs a bit big, I’m wearing a large and I usually am 14 in jackets and this one feels more like a 14/16 than a 12/14 if that makes sense. The XL may work as I think it would fit like a 16/18.

  3. Nice design with the buttons on the jacket. I’m always caught between getting a size that fits across my smaller chest and one that will button over the tummy. If the buttons are there and I can’t button them I don’t like the way it looks. Designing the jacket to button partway, and not putting buttons at the bottom is clever.

    1. Agree! This is something I love about cabi, they have these little details that at first glance don’t seem important but really make a difference in fitting a variety of body shapes.
