What I Wore: Sequins
I've said it before, there's a little Studio 54 hiding in the back of my closet. For years those fun sequined and sparkly pieces collected dust, not having the guts or the lifestyle to let them see the light of day. The older I get, the more I want to wear those pieces and will find an occasion to wear them.
When I saw this gorgeous sequined dress at ELOQUII I knew I needed it and I WOULD find an occasion to wear it. Each New Year's Eve my sister hosts a party where the dress code is sequins (I wore this silver sequin dress two years ago). I planned on wearing it this past weekend to a gala for a nonprofit but my long days at the job and two days gallivanting around NYC I was exhausted, felt like I was coming down with a cold and had to cancel. But I know other events will be coming up this season.
Dress: c/o ELOQUII (14) (read review of the dress in this post) | Shoes: ASOS (similar) | Bracelet: Banana Republic (similar) | Earrings: CZ by Kenneth Jay Lane (similar)
And I did get some pictures of the dress while I was gallivanting around NYC, and some with my friend Dani who joined me in said gallivanting. We both love ELOQUII and thought it would be fun to get a photo of us together in our favorite ELOQUII sequined dresses. These photos, like the ones in this outfit post, were taken by photographer Preethi Rajaguru.
This dress is great because it's comfortable and flattering. While there's a zipper, it's so stretchy I can pull it right over my head. The surplice neckline and side ruching create an hourglass shape. I do have a tiny safety pin in the neckline to hide my bra, but if you're taller it's really not necessary. It's fully lined; unlike many sequined pieces it's not itchy and there's no stray threads to snag on jewelry. And no shedding, even when shoved in a carry-on suitcase with plenty of other clothes.
I'm pretty impressed with ELOQUII's dressier and festive collection and I see them adding more and more to it as the holidays draw closer. Heck, they have an entire Sequin Shop on their website! As an FYI, Dani is wearing a longer version of this sequined wrap dress.
I am desperately looking for this dress! Eloquii sold out. Any ideas on where I can find one for a huge event next year?
Oh I am so sorry, I just sold this dress on Poshmark the other week! I highly recommend you check there. Also have you reached out to ELOQUII? Never know they may have one hiding in their warehouse. They’re super communicative on Instagram. Good luck!
Wow this post just confirmed that I made the right choice in getting a gold sequinned dress !
I almost got the same dress Dani is wearing in this post. The only reason I’m glad I didn’t is because now she and my sister have gold sequined dresses. But it is a stunning statement, I bet you look gorgeous in yours!
Allie,
How gorgeous and hot you look in that dress. It really does look like a tailor made it for you.
Chris
Thanks Chris!
You both look stunning!! I love how Dani styled her dress with the leopard booties. Crazy, but it works.
She pulls together the coolest combos I’d never consider but adore. She has such a fun personal style!
That looks absolutely wonderful on you! And the gold dress is marvelous on your friend! How fun.
Thank you!
LOVE!
Aww thanks!
As I stated on Facebook, you must have been a sight to behold while on the train. I love the look!!
