Happy Thanksgiving
This was originally a Thanksgiving post I published in 2013. I was looking through my archives and found it and decided to revive it as it's a beautiful memory of Thanksgiving before my mom passed last fall.
Last Thanksgiving, my sister and I were in no condition to host or celebrate Thanksgiving. We escaped the holiday and the country with a long weekend to Curaรงao. This year, I still wasn't ready to host so we are going to a dear friend's for Thanksgiving, and doing a second Thanksgiving on Black Friday with my husband's family.
My mom hosted Thanksgiving at our childhood home until around 2016 when she moved and didn't have the space. I took over, providing the same dishes and traditions, and the same grace, the one below, always recited by my mom.
Maybe next year, I'll be ready to host Thanksgiving again, but in the meantime, a flashback to nine years ago, which feels like yesterday, and the feelings I have for all of you in the Wardrobe Oxygen community have only deepened over the past decade. Sending you all peace, love, and rest over this holiday weekend. I am thankful for you.
Happy Thanksgiving
This quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson is the grace my mom recites before digging into our classic New England meal of turkey, stuffing, boiled pearl onions, mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, homemade gravy, and rolls.
After the meal, we usually have several different pies to choose from, which are served with Breyer's vanilla ice cream and coffee. Each year, we go to my mom's – it's a table full of family in the area plus any friends and neighbors who don't have somewhere to go, and it's always a great time. The tradition and the family time make it my favorite holiday.
Thanksgiving is about giving thanks and seeing the blessings in life. I want to thank all of you for coming to read Wardrobe Oxygen, getting to know me, letting me get to know you, and for being part of this great community.ย
I feel blessed to have this connection, this blog, and all of you in my life. It's such a pleasure to be able to interact, help, and learn from all of you, and I think this past year has been one of the most inspiring and rich years I have ever blogged, thanks to you.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

I am so sorry that your mother is gone. You are right to be gentle with yourself. I hope the weekend brings some tender loving care.
All the best wishes for the days ahead.
Hugs to you and your family! I know how hard it is to miss those no longer with us. And, may their sweet memories of love and tradition comfort us. I always loved seeing your Mom on the blog. Love your content

No Thanksgiving for us… just the ongoing craziness building up to Christmas. It’d be kind of nice to have a day off about now… (But hope you had a lovely day)
