I love dresses like this printed shift from LOFT for fall and winter.  Days when it's 60, I can wear with bare legs and maybe some tall boots.  Gets colder, add tights.  When the temps really drop, the loose style means I can layer – a slip, a turtleneck, a leather jacket over it, fleece tights, tall boots… it all works (and heck, may all be worn at the same time!).  I can dress up with pumps and a red lip, dress down with a denim jacket and my harness boots.  All this and machine washable and it goes with black and brown accessories.  I decided to go with regular instead of petite so it's a work-friendly length; the dress has a lot of volume so if unsure size down.

And if you're shopping at LOFT today, they have an additional 40% off all sale merch, plus 40% off tops, sweaters, and sweater dresses (no code needed).  If I didn't already own my striped sweater with the bird applique, I'd pick up this one with a sequined peacock.  I bought their Refined Sweater last year and while I gave it a meh review, I found I wore it like crazy last winter and have been wearing it again this year.  I have a soft teal melange which isn't available this year but they do have some great jewel tones, a wine color, and nice neutrals as options.  And do check out their sweater dresses, they have a lot of flattering silhouettes and it's always nice when a trend is also practical.  We're getting to the bundling up season, and sweater dresses are a way to stay warm and still look stylish and professional!

  1. Every single year I try to buy a sweater dress and every single year I fail. They always end up clinging really awkwardly to my stomach and hip area (despite wearing a slip under them.) Will this be the year that I succeed? (The Loft swing sweater dress in particular is lovely–maybe it has potential?) Thanks as always for the round-up!

    1. Since I’m sure you were on the edge of your seats, I have an update. It’s perfect and the swinginess of the dress isn’t over the top but instead just skims over your curves. And, even better, it’s currently $35. I don’t know why but it’s a shopping miracle 🙂

    1. To be honest, I don’t wear this hat often. This time of year I sometimes do for my work commute, but I did more when I was in the city and walked several blocks (now I have a parking garage). I wore it when a friend had a daytime fire pit/happy hour and we were outside, but it’s not as useful a purchase as I imagined when I bought it last year!
