The older Emerson gets, the busier my weekends. Girl Scouts Daisies, dance classes, birthdays, homework (yes kindergarteners have homework!), play dates are all scheduled with errands and chores tucked in the free moments. I keep my weekend looks like a uniform so I can save my brainpower for the tasks at hand.

A pair of stretchy jeans, footwear that will be comfortable all day, and a top with stretch that will look great even after seatbelts, sitting, and being squashed into parkas. Lyssรฉ sent me this top recently, and the gorgeous berry color (they call it Pomegranate) keeps my look from being ordinary.

This is one of my favorite colors, almost the same shade as our kitchen! Since my Saturdays are usually a two bag day (one big tote for Daisies stuff, ballet outfit, etc. and then my purse) I've recently switched to this adorable gold bag from Dagne Dover. It's small and cute but well designed like its bigger sister to hold everything and have all the contents easily accessible.

Got my coffee and I'm ready to take on the world of a five- almost six-year-old!

  1. Yep, this kind of outfit is exactly what I love to wear on weekends as well! I just got a few tunics (one is actually very similar to the color of this one) that I’ve been wearing with leggings so far, but I’d love to try them out with skinny jeans one of these days too.

Question for you: I’ve been really interested in making my style a little big edgier, and I’m having a hard time figuring out what kinds of edgy/rocker pieces I can wear to work. I’ve been Googling things, looking at blogs, and looking on Pinterest, but I’m having a hard time finding things that don’t look too costumey or that wouldn’t look goofy on my size 14/16 body (so much of the “rocker chic” stuff out there is made for lankier bodies). Do you have any advice on edgy work outfits, or blogs to check out that might fit what I’m looking for?

  2. Gotta love those comfy boots! I’ve got a black pair that are my weekend uniform with jeans and a jumper. I hope you’re managing to get some rest and relaxation in the midst of all that busy-ness!

  3. I have a similar “uniform” on the weekend too – those kiddies activities just don’t stop. I swear my son’s social life is way busier than my. Love your hair in these pics too.

  4. Love that you included the coffee in your ‘where I got this’ section ๐Ÿ˜‰

This is a beautiful outfit! That color is gorgeous and I feel like it would flatter almost everyone’s skin tone.

    1. #drinklocal! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a new local place and really lovely, anything I can do to help the business! And yes, I do think this is one of those universally flattering colors, I remember when I had red hair it was one of the few shades already in my closet that didn’t make me look like death!

  5. That is a great color for you and your make-up really plays it up.
Time crawls along until your children go to school, and then it moves to warp speed!

  6. I adore your kitchen!! Maybe it’s because homes tend to be older and smaller, but I feel like people on the east coast (and particularly New England) are so great at putting vibrant and saturated colors into their homes. I just love the look!

  7. I totally hear you on the need for a weekend uniform! You look fantastic – that color is superb on you. Your makeup is looking particularly great lately – any chance you’d do a post on your routine?
