Attire:
Lands End – Orange cotton scoopneck sweater
Ann Taylor – White pants
Born – Orange leather thongs (been having some weird foot issues of late so been rocking the flattest shoes possible)
Silver jewelery
Hair:
Washed and conditioned last night with Pureology Volumizing
Matrix – Curl.Life Contouring Milk
Ken Paves – Shine Serum
I added the Curl.Life to the whole head of damp hair, and the shine serum to the ends and a bit on the top because I have been dealing with frizz. Scrunched, let air dry and then fell asleep on it. Woke to hair that looked greasy. I think this combo would work very well on coarser hair. So I took the slimy looking waves and smoothed them with a round brush and the hair was so limp. It was soft and not greasy looking, but limp. So I took large sections and put into my new curling iron and ended up with this effect. Not the best, way too much trouble, but I feel as though I am coming to find some sort of solution for my frizzy yet thin yet sparse (losing hair which is typical at this point post-partum) hair. My goal is to find something that works without the hair dryer – save energy and my strands this summer.
Beauty:
Laura Mercier – Tinted Moisturizer in Sand
Cargo – Matte BeachBlush in Tenerife
Revlon – ColorStay shadow quad in Neutral Khakis
Cover Girl – LashBlast mascara in Rich Black
Benefit – Her Glossiness in Next Question Please
And yes, I like orange so much that my half-bath/laundry room is orange! ๐
Thursday I had a photo shoot at The Capitol so my attire wasn't too exciting because I had to be on my feet and blend into the woodwork. Black puff sleeve cashmere tee from Banana Republic, black ponte trousers from Old Navy, black city boots from David Tate. It rained like cray so hair was a bit… beachy looking. Friday I worked from home.
This weekend was nice – very low key. We hung out with friends on Friday evening. Saturday we did a whole heck of a lot of nothing and it felt amazing. We spent several hours just watching Emerson roll from front to back and front. She is getting so strong! Father's Day, I took my husband out for breakfast, we took a long hike with two of the dogs and the baby, had my sister stop by and went to bed early. Exactly what he wanted! ๐
So glad to hear you are okay. What a scary, scary situation! I wonder how something like this happens. My prayers/thoughts go with the victims and the families.
Just heard about the crash and my first thought was to check if you’re ok. Please reassure us. As a citizen of London I remember the 7/7 attack on the underground and remeber how terrifying it was wondering if friends and loved ones were ok; I wish you and your family and friends strength and love for what must be a horrible time for your city.
Hi Allie, yes, please post to let us know that you are all right.
it’s been awhile since i’ve checked your blog — not because of emerson pics (she’s so cute) i’ve just been crazy busy, but i read about that horrible crash and wanted to check in that you’re ok… please update!
Hi Ally – heard about the train crash and know you catch the train – just wanted to check you are OK and were not part of it.

Allie,
I’ve been meaning to send you this link for a while. Girl Friday is a fun blog that mostly talks about deals in the Twin Cities, so probably not super useful for you overall, but in this post, she talks about Pureology and a less pricey, L’Oreal option:

It’s not quite up to the quality of Pureology, but for the price, I’ve been very happy with the L’Oreal EverPure shampoo and conditioner (I use the color care line, but they also have a volumizing option).
Anyway, just thought I would share.
