I have been having neck and left shoulder pain that radiates down into the center of my left arm. I think it has to do with the way my office desk/chair is set up – I moved my monitor and lowered my chair and it has helped a bit, but this morning I woke in pain again… and just didn't have the desire to pull together a creative ensemble. Love this jacket – goes with so much and can make a very frumpy jeans and tee shirt look not quite so frumpy.
I had a great time last night at the Refinery29 party at Madewell!ย I wasn't able to stay long, but it was wonderful to see blogging friends, meet some bloggers for the first time, and revel in the amazing style that many posses in our lovely Nation's Capital!ย If you were there and took photos, be sure to link in the comments as I didn't capture any myself!ย I did find these great photos on the blogs The President Wears Prada, So Much to Smile About, and A Lacey Perspective but would love to see more!
So what are your plans for the weekend? Emerson and I have swimming class tomorrow, and Sunday our community is having their semi-annual baby clothing swap – we set up a table at the Sunday farmers market – everyone brings the clothing and equipment for babies and children that we no longer need and do a free swap. It's a great way to clean out the closet and get new pieces for the season, and it's always fun to see a littler child on the playground wearing Emerson's old dress or tee shirt. Nice to see such pieces get a second life (and anything not taken is donated to a local charity!). I'll be manning the table for a couple of hours – I love the opportunity to catch up with Emerson's friends' parents and hopefully enjoy a nice fall day!
I am going to the doc to ensure it’s not anything different (I have a lump behind my ear – not sure if it’s something to worry about, something strange like a ganglian cyst or a zit growing – ew) but think after that I will find a good massage therapist nad get a new desk chair. Thanks for this link, what a great resource!

get yourself to a good massage therapist!
you look laid back/chic ๐
I am right-handed but realize with the way my desk is set up (it’s L-shaped and my monitor is right at the corner) I do a lot where I lean on my left arm. I tried moving my monitor a bit, but will have to get IT to move it more so I am straight.
Haven’t gotten a massage (other than my husband being a saint each night while we watch TV), but think I will after I see the doctor. I wonder if it’s a pinched nerve, it comes and goes and the pain is weird, almost electric. Thank you so much for your suggestions!

Love the jacket. I tried on something similar today at a resale shop but, alas, it didn’t fit. Two questions: Have you tried getting a massage and are you left handed? A massage therapist helped me a lot with similar pain and told me it was probably because my work desk was set up for a right-handed person.
Loving your arm candy!!
Oh, I love Cole Haan shoes. I wear their amazing flats like every day, and I too live in DC, so they get a lot of abuse from all the city walking I do.
It seems like you have a really great community! I wish there was somewhere to do a swap like that. I would love to do an adult clothing swap, like the DC one you went to as well.
That chain bracelet is amazing. It brings the edge.
This weekend I have reservations to go eat at Red O, a local restaurant run by Rick Bayless, who I’m told is a very popular celebrity chef. I don’t really know who that is, but I’m always pumped to try new restaurants!
I have an appointment next week – based on the type of pain I believe it is a nerve or muscle, but I still want it gone. Hard to focus when your shoulder feels like this! ๐
Yes, please take your pain seriously, dear Allie. Love your look, that’s my favorite color for a top/jacket and you look smashing.
Left arm/neck pain might signal a heart issue. If it persists, you may want to consider getting checked out by a doc. ๐
On another note, I love love the jacket!
