My Wardrobe Today – Thursday Nov 17, 2011
Denim shirt – Talbots
Leopard skirt – Ann Taylor
Tights – DKNY
Pumps – MICHAEL Michael Kors
Necklace – c/o Ann Taylor
Bracelet – Ann Taylor (similar)
I didn't realize my shirt got all untucked when putting Emerson in the car until I looked at these images at work. Bah. So it goes, this is how I really look, no pinning or adjusting or last minute looks in a mirror!
Work has been pretty hectic the last few days, but today and tomorrow are less frantic so I can calm down and catch up (just cleaned up my work Inbox and boy does it feel good!).
I got this shirt a few weeks ago from Talbots – I had been looking for a shirt that was heavier in weight and darker in color than my Target chambray one, and found this one on sale. The skirt is the ONLY thing I bought at the Ann Taylor Friends & Family, and the necklace was in the goody bag from the event I went to the other week. I got these tights this weekend – I was looking for some super opaque black tights and many of you recommended DKNY; I had tried their standard tights before and liked them and I must say I like their super opaque ones as well – no binding waist, they aren't sagging, and they aren't shiny at all (my biggest tights peeve).
Thanks Kimberlee! I wore this same shirt untucked with narrow black bootcut pants and booties this weekend – so versatile!
You’ve been have quite the fashionista week – leopard print everywhere! hehe My mom got a chambray shirt, I may have to show her this post as inspiration ๐
I agree, always loved it but this season it’s fierce!
Love that skirt. I am all about the leopard this year. (Meow!)
Thank you so much!!!
Hey Allie, speaking as a former designer of women’s career clothing back in the day, I would say your outfit is “SPOT ON”!! (no pun intended) It’s refreshing to see a leopard print paired with something different for a change and THIS WORKS! Too often even I take the “safe” route and pair my leopard prints with all black but denim is different, but not so much so, that it’s off. This definitely works, I love it and I must say I’m going to “borrow” this look for myself! ….and that’s my professional opinion. LOL ๐
Well I don’t own brown boots, but I do think that would look really great. Have many more ideas for this skirt for the next time I wear it!
I wasn’t super keen on the outfit either. What about just changing out the shoes and tights and adding a pair of brown boots?
LOL thanks so much Patti!
Thanks Callandra, you have such amazing style, your comment means a lot!
Oh thank you so much!
Very cool, or, may I say HOT! Great skirt!
Love this look!……def have to copy ๐
Fantastic! You keep outdoing yourself with your outfits, Allie! So envious!
Thank you so much!
I REALLY love this outfit. Didn’t bother me at all with the shirt a little untucked. And your hair and makeup look great today!
Thanks Devon, and that’s funny you say I look as though I have lost weight because I am fearing my WW meeting tonight – have severely fell off the wagon the past two weeks! ๐
Thanks so much Frances! And I am honored to be an outfit inspiration!
LOL, NEVER! I think the uber curviness of my legs makes me more obsessive for the perfect matte tights! ๐
Love this look….you look so great in this outfit! I love how you put textures and prints together and mix things up – so stylish and on-trend… I’m a huge fan of this style. Lately, I gotta admit, I’ve been “stealing” a lot of your looks especially love, love, the orange/pink combo jacket/scarf look. Even though I’m over 50, the outfits really work for all ages, just gotta know your body type and like you say, dress for the body you have now, not the one you wish for…hehehe! Keep the photos coming Allie!
That skirt. Man. It’s AMAZING.
Also my Target tights are totally shiny. Please don’t disown me.
LOL! I never thought of buying it even when I saw it in the store, but then when I had it I realized it goes with quite a lot. Makes me want to buy a navy dress. ๐
I ALMOST put this necklace on my Ann list instead of the other one – jealous! ๐
I would really love to pair this skirt with a dark red or orange – would
really accent the colors nicely! And no need to apologize, I love
feedback like this, and I often get inspiration for future outfits from
comments on the blog. Thank you!

Aww, I’m sorry but I’m not 100% sure about this outfit… For me the print skirt would work much better as an accent to an all-black outfit, and the blue shirt with it just seems to jar. I’m not sure if it’s the fabric of the shirt, or whether a different pair of shoes would make a difference (I think black shoes and black tights are making me wish for a black top) but I’m just not 100% sure about this one…
That said I love the shirt by itself, and I think the bottom half of the outfit would look really cute with a different top! I’m just not sure I would have paired them together this way. Sorry!
(Just thinking about it, black would be my obvious choice of top colour but possibly something warm like a red or orange would also work, to bring out the mustard hues within the skirt print?)

I would be honored! ๐
Allie, you look GREAT in this outfit. I must confess that I am totally planning to “steal” this look.
So sad they ran out of goody bags! I hope they have another event soon – they know how to host a party! ๐
Foxy outfit! And I’m so jells that I didnt get a gift bag at the Ann Taylor/Washingtonian event…

Thanks Alyson!
LOVE that necklace, impressed that it’s by AT! Great overall look, the tights definitely make the skirt work appropriate.
