When I bought this jacket, I also purchased a navy and white striped boat neck. I envisioned wearing the two together, but when I tried it on I didn't find the tee flattering (was in rush and tried on at home). Last night I went into my local Ann Taylor to return the tee, and saw this one.

Yes, yes I know I have a ton of striped tees right now. However my beloved black and white striped scoop tee from Ann Taylor is now really big on me and doesn't look as polished as I would like. I like this tee because it has the flattering scoop neckline, is heavier knit than my other striped tees, and the shoulder epaulet detail is adorable and bumps up the style and non-tee look a notch.  Since I purchased the original tee during a 40% off deal, the lovely manager of my favorite Ann Taylor did an exchange so this tee was also 40% off so I only paid an additional $6.36 for this shirt (original tee cost me about $16).  Niiice!  I can see this with a pencil skirt (tried it on last night with the pencil skirt I wore), can also see with a more casual skirt (a dark brick red would be fantastic), and as you see it's a nice pairing with jeans for a casual look.

And nope, not supposed to be wearing jeans today, but I don't have any pants that currently fit.  My Gap Perfect Trouser pants are a bit too stretched out in the belly area from my previous weight and don't look too flattering.  I haven't purchased new pants because I really haven't seen any that I love.  So I live in jeans and skirts and dresses until I find great pants, or spring arrives.  Not going to purchase any “make do” clothing!

  1. The one I have is a true pumpkin orange color, however I believe they have it in a cognac color (and know new spring colors are arriving). Aren’t they the best? I have become such a fan because the quality is fab and their customer support and interaction is amazing!

  2. Allie,
You do look fabulous and so svelte! You’ve turned me onto a mini-obsession with hobo bags. The cross-body one you have in a recent picture, it is more orange or cognac? I’m really wanting a cognac cross-body like that for spring.

    thanks!

  3. Cynthia, ATL always has the best deals! Those are two great scores. I wish I had one closer to my office or I would visit more – their online store just doesn’t wow me and then I see someone in person in one of their pieces and I wish I had purchased it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anon, the ones I am wearing here I got off Amazon.com – they are advertised just as a straight leg in a blue/black color. No name. However I also have the “Marilyn” which is also a straight fit free of cheesy decorations and details. I buy them in regular for my heels, if you are 5’1″ you may want to try the petite which is perfect for me if I wore flats. Don’t put them in the dryer due to all the lycra in them.

  4. I’ve been afraid of the striped tee, but I think that I’m getting ready to take the plunge. I did buy and wear two horizontal striped sweaters this winter – one of my friends took one look at me and said “I’m so jealous that you’re thin enough to wear horizontal stripes now”.

So, I’m thinking that I could take the plunge with a shirt as fantastic as the one you’re wearing today. I should stop by AT Loft again this week – it was my last stop last weekend at the end of an exhausting shopping day. I found two sweet deals (Cords for $9.99 and a cute shift dress for $14.17) so I’m thinking that I could have found even better stuff if I wasn’t so tired at that point.

  5. I would love to know more about your NYD jeans. Could you tell me which styles you have and which you like best? Also, do you buy them in regular or petite? I’m only asking because I have a very similar body type and always have trouble finding jeans (and I’m only 5’1″). You look great by the way!

  6. You have visibly lost weight and look great! (Not that one cannot look great unless rail-thin, but I do know first hand what pregnancy leftovers do to one’s physique and morale. )

  7. Please take this only as it’s intended (i.e. not creepy!), but you are looking more and more fantastic lately. The weight loss is part of it, I’m sure, but you just look healthy and glowy. It’s inspiring.

  8. SKINNY MINNIE!!! You look so great. Did you do a review yet on these NYD jeans? I’ve been considering them…
