Today I was rushing to get Emerson out of the house and I didn't even realize I forgot my coat. It's so warm in DC, I just wore this with an avocado-green pashmina looped around my throat. Crazy!

These shoes, as Chelsea so perfectly put it this AM on Twitter, are “taxi to tabletop” shoes. In theory, they are comfortable – hidden platform, soft suede. In reality, they are constructed in a strange manner where my feet seem to slide not only forward but in a pigeon-toed manner where my pinky toes want to slip out of the vamp. I always forget, put them back in the closet, and pull them out with shoe amnesia. They have Foot Petals to keep from slipping, I slide them on and they look cute and feel comfortable… until I walk more than 20 feet. I wish I still had my Chucks in the bottom drawer of my desk. Good thing I don't have to do much walking at the office today!  Note to self – don't try wearing these shoes AND walk more than one block!

  1. That pink velvet is luscious!  Very pretty indeed!  I’ve been contemplating a velvet jacket… I do think i’ve been inspired!

  2. Great ensemble.  I love everything about it, the colors, wonderful jacket, the shoes, and pencil denim skirt.  You look great!!  I hate when shoes slip and it just gets worse as the day goes on, even worse is when you put in the foot petals or heal inserts and it still doesn’t work.  I have a few pairs like this and I like them so much I continue to wear them, but I do find that I have to do this weird walk/shuffle and by the end of the day my foot is cramping b/c I’m trying to curl my toes to keep them on.  I feel your pain.  But regardless, fabulous!!!

  3. I have a few pairs of shoes like that and I always vow to give them away or toss them after forgetting and wearing them to work. Fortunately, I always have an extra pair of shoes at work, so I don’t have to suffer all day because I inevitable decide to keep the shoes for the taxi-to-table occasions – especially if they’re sexy and they usually are.

  4. I have two pair of JS shoes. One tan that I love love love and a pair of black pumps that are only good for being dropped off at a restaurant front door and picked up there after we eat. So cute but SO not for any distance!

  6. Uncomfy or not, those shoes are the most luscious color! And I love the rich ruby of the jacket too. Oooh… urge to shop… rising…

  7. What about wearing yesterday’s jacket with a skirt and a green, gold,or turquoise shirt or sweater underneath.  And then wearing the painful shoes from today???  I hate saying I don’t like something and then not offering something constructive.  I don’t think I liked the  white blouse with the jacket and jeans, I think you need to pull some color from the jacket.

  8. This looks fantastic.  And you look super slim in it.  I wouldn’t change a thing, well I’d let you wear comfortable shoes.  Yesterday’s look, not a favorite.  Not sure why.

  9. Beauty is pain, they say, except I don’t know who they are. ๐Ÿ™‚ You look great and love the color of those shoes.
