Your Closet Could Use a Pop of Color!
Fall is shades of pumpkin, chocolate, camel, pine green, and cream. After a summer full of brights, whites, and pastels, it feels downright refreshing to switch to autumnal hues. But like the leaves on the trees as they go from being a beautiful riot of color to dried dullness on the sidewalks, our wardrobes may seem a bit drab around this time of fall. The best way to update neutrals in your closet is with a pop of color and there's no better color to do that than red. Like the leaves in fall, bright red seems to not only coordinate with neutrals, the vibrant color brings life to them. Whether it's cool neutrals like gray and navy, or warm shades of pumpkin, mustard, and camel; red is just what is needed to revive your fall closet and help transition it into winter. Below I share some of the best items on the internet to add a necessary red pop to your closet!
- Cashmere-lined leather gloves with touchscreen tips. While red is my favorite pop of color for the season, these come in seven other colors too. $74.95
- Clean, minimalist design in a chic and modern watch. I personally hate the cold feeling of metal watches in the winter; this is a stylish but also comfortable alternative! $95.00
- Cashmere cableknit beanie with a fun faux fur pom on top. I own this hat and love it; spoiler alert it will be making its Wardrobe Oxygen debut next week! Available in four other colors too. $95.00
- The perfect Breton striped top to transition into winter. Available in Misses, Petites, Plus, and Plus Petites, this knit tee would look chic on its own, under cardigans and blazers, and with a warm scarf around the throat come winter. $59.50 (though through the 27th save 30% with promo code FRIENDS)
- This vegan leather tote is highly rated, durable, and reversible! Turn it inside out for a leopard-printed tote with red piping! Customers say it's fantastic for work and for travel. Two other colors also available. $78.00
- A bold necklace to update all your wardrobe basics. This is the kind of accessory that will turn a simple sweater and jeans into an ensemble. $44.00
- A classic pair of Ray-Bans in an updated color. The Ray-Ban Wayfarer has been a style icon staple since Risky Business; this dark red shade is still classic but with a cool twist. $168.00
- Nothing more fun than a pair of red shoes. These leather flats from Everlane receive rave reviews and are a silhouette that will look great with all cuts of jeans, your favorite trousers, as well as fall-friendly midi skirts. $150.00
- The perfect size crossbody for fall and all year long. I had a version of this bag a few years ago and wore it to DEATH. Seriously, it was my favorite until a mug of coffee spilled all over it. Plus side, it protected all of the contents! Unique yet classic, and available in six different colors. $228.00
- The perfect way to brighten a cold rainy day. Did you know Pendleton made rainboots? Did you know they were this cute? $91.00
- Cozy up by the fireplace, or at the pumpkin patch. A classic cableknit turtleneck sweater with a perfect five-star rating. Available in four colors and in Petite and Tall sizes! $60.00
- An elegant bag for the office in a power color. This bag is so chic, so classic, and while I am partial to red it also comes in black and brown. $189.00
- The coolest earrings to update all your looks. So cool, they're currently in my virtual shopping cart. Don't be surprised to see me rocking them very soon! $35.00
- It's a cinch to update any look with this belt. Classic lines, cool buckle, perfect shade of red (though it also comes in black and cognac). $39.00
- Brighten up your work wardrobe. Though honestly, these red loafers (they come in 24 colors and patterns) would also look great on the weekend with your favorite jeans or chinos. Available in regular and wide widths. $119.95
I work in public education and #Red4Ed is one of our favorite slogans! Lots of great options here.
Perfect!
I’m so glad that things seem to have shifted over to a true red this year, and I hope it continues! For years, most of the “red” that’s been on offer has been that tomato, orangey red that doesn’t look that great on me (cool skin undertones), so I’m really pumped for all of this!
Yes, bright clear red is back and I also think it’s fabulous!
