Spiced Red Sweater Coat and Jeans for Fall
Chico's invited me to check out their New Arrivals for October and I was so excited to see a lot of the colors. Sure, there is plenty of black and gray and beige, but with it were these gorgeous rich shades of red, blue, teal, and magenta. And when I saw this spiced red sweater coat and matching mock neck shell I knew I had to try it. I mean, this isn't the first time I've rocked this spiced red from Chico's!
The red sweater coat is a sweater on the sleeves and back, but this soft almost like a flannel or brushed wool front that is not at all itchy or stiff. The zippers are gold, and the color is just as pretty in person. I got a size 2 which is comfortable for me. The lighter-weight back and sleeves make this a great piece that you can wear under a coat; a lot of sweater coats and toppers are often too heavy and thick on the shoulders and sleeves and this one isn't. It's comfy but also polished enough for the workplace.
I searched Spiced Red on the Chico's site to see what else came in the color of this red sweater coat and loved the idea of this mock neck underneath with the collar of the sweater coat. I felt it was both mod and modern. This mock neck zips up in the back but is quite comfortable. It would be a great layering piece under sweaters this winter as it will keep your neck and torso warm without adding bulk to arms.
I already owned these Chico's Girlfriend Jeans in my closet; in fact, I have two pairs! One is this length, and one is a shorter ankle length to wear with flats and to do a small cuff and wear with sneakers. I have the Chico's Girlfriend Jeans in white, in gray… they are really comfy, a classic mid-rise style, stretch but don't stretch out and wash like a dream. I wear a 2 usually, but sometimes go with a 1.5 if I want them to fit more like skinny jeans and wear under untucked tops. They stretch so nicely they are still comfy a half size down.

The belt is old and from cabi; this is a similar one at a very nice price. I highlighted the gold zippers on the coat with these gold hoops also from Chico's. These are the best hoops: not too big, a color that looks good with real gold, and a fantastic price. This is my second pair as the ones I got three years ago have finally started to look worn. The rings are this one from Monica Vinader and this cigar ring from Etsy. The lipstick is Tom Ford in Scarlet Rouge (I got a mini as a gift with purchase from a Sephora order).
The well-worn boots (I really need to take them to the cobbler to get reheeled and resoled and buffed up) are La Canadienne. This is my… third winter? Fourth winter? Anyway, these boots were NOT cheap but I have had them and loved them for a good while. These boots are buttery soft yet also waterproof, have a lace-up front but also a side zipper for easy getting on and off. I added these insoles in them so they're extra comfy.
Alison, that color is amazing on you. Fabulous outfit!
Red and leopard print are a favorite combo of mine. That coat is stunning. Well done.
You. Look. Phenomenal. and Confident! The first pic in the post was an immediate “YASSSSS, Alison!”
Is “spiced red” quite orange or a real red?
Neither. It’s like a brick red but not at all muddy. Think a bright Bloody Mary or maybe tomato sauce.
Oh, you should wear this color all of the time! You are stunning in it! Iโve never tried Chicoโs jeans. Maybe the next time Iโm near the store, Iโll stop in and say, โAlison sent me!โ I love your honest reviews and trust them completely.
