Style Inspo: Early Spring Edition

After completing my mom's estate, I rewarded myself by going back into therapy. This week my therapist asked what I enjoy most about this job, and it's making collages, capsule wardrobes, and outfit flatlays. Writing is my baby, but this is fun like vision boarding in PicMonkey and seeing my thoughts become a bit more real.

The Continuation of Americana Chic

I'm seeing a lot of navy, barn red, and off-white this spring, paired with brown, raffia, straw, gold, and pearls. Classic textiles, classic colors, pieces that aren't specific to a trend or an era of time. You can call is quiet luxury, Americana chic, 80s and 90s prep and collegiate style, nostaligia for when our country wasn't out to destroy itself… it's a popular look this spring and will continue into summer.

Cheery and Clear Spring Colors

I am not usually a pastel person, but this spring the pastels have joy to them. After years of flesh tones and muddied muted colors, this spring shows clean clear colors of daffodils, peonies, crocuses, lilacs, and hydrangeas. I also love the joy of these colors combined in stripes and accents with neutrals like white, cream, beige, and natural fabrics like rope, straw, wood, and cork.

Elevated and Unexpected Color Pairings

I'm seeing a mix of black, white, navy, and brown this spring, and I love this unexpected mix. For years, there were style rules to never mix brown with black, black with navy, leather with suede, etc. This combo breaks all these rules and shows how utterly chic the result can be. Lots of blues from navy to sky, and being the pop of color replacing red and hot pink. It's cool and modern and refreshing and looks elevated.

Natural Textiles

Spring is always a good time for natural textiles. Fitting with sandy beaches, sunkissed skin, vacations, and warm breezes, accents in braided leather, woven raffia and straw, tortoiseshell, and suede look great with other neutrals or toning down brights from previous seasons. This year, I'm all about a straw day bag, brown sandals, and switching out self-belts of sundresses with one of woven leather or rope.
