I’d totally rock these stylish closed-toe summer shoes
I recently wrote about the perennial chic style of quality brown leather sandals, and in the comments, a reader asked for stylish closed-toe summer shoes and sandals while she deals with a toe issue. Whether it's a toe issue or a personal preference, there are some seriously cute closed-toe sandals and summer shoes available this season, and I gathered the ones I'd totally rock and know they'd still look cool a year from now.

Stylish Closed-Toe Summer Shoes for Women
Nothing is more miserable than hot sweaty feet on a summer day. These sandals and closed-toe summer shoes will help you keep your cool while keeping your tootsies either covered or less prominent. For any of these styles with removable insoles, I highly recommend my no-show sock hack to keep insoles dry and fresh without visible socks.
Fisherman Sandals
Previously considered “dad sandals,” the fisherman sandal is back and considered quite cool. From high-end runway labels to bog box retailers, fisherman sandals are often designed to have an openwork weave of straps over the entire toebox, keeping things breezy while predominantly covering your toes.

If in doubt, go solid and same color from strap to sole. A chunky look is on trend and works like a sneaker in pairing nicely with sundresses, a-line silhouettes, and wide-leg summer pants made of linen, gauze, and other breezy fabrics.
Huaraches
Huaraches are a traditional Mexican sandal with roots dating back to pre-Columbian times.ย The name “huarache” is derived from the Purรฉpecha word “kwarachi,” meaning sandal.ย Initially worn by farmers, huaraches are now available in a range of colors and styles.

If you're looking for a versatile sandal that will go with the majority of your summer closet, consider huaraches that are very close to your skintone. Coming in shades of ivory to dark chocolate and tones of red, pink, and rust, a low-contrast sandal will elongate the leg line and let your outfit take the spotlight.
Espadrilles
Espadrilles are a classic Spanish shoe style, originally worn by peasants but made chic in the 20th century by icons like Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and even John F. Kennedy. Espadrilles continue to be a fashion classic, now available in wedges, heels, strappy versions, and most any color under the sun.

There are so many different styles of espadrilles, I couldn't fit them all in the collage. Do visit my collection page on ShopMy for all the espadrilles that caught my eye!
Mesh and Woven Flats
This is the second summer where mesh, macrame, and woven flats are a “thing.” And I don't think they'll be going away anytime soon. Primarily designed with a Mary Jane strap, these flats can dress up and down and take up no space in your travel luggage.

This is just a hint of what is out there when it comes to mesh and woven shoes. Mules, flats, Mary Janes, sneakers, oxfords, loafers, boat shoes… the trend this season is woven and open for quite classic styles making them perfect closed-toe summer shoes with ventilation! Again, I have made a collection on ShopMy if you wish to see other styles that caught my eye!
Mules
Unlike slides, mules are a slip-on shoe that has a closed toe. Flat, kitten heel, or wedge, mules are a closed-toe summer shoe that reads more elevated, making it a good choice for some workplaces, houses of worship, and dressy occasions while still being seasonally appropriate.

Mules have been in and out of fashion for decades, so if you are one who loves to shop resale or thrift, this is your year! Check out sites like ThreadUp, Mercari, Poshmark, The RealReal and eBay as the silhouettes in Summer 2025 are fluid and “vintage” or even a couple of years old looks will be chic now.
Dressy Closed-Toe Summer Shoes
Heading to a summer wedding or vacation and need a dressier sandal or summer shoe? These metallic sandals all hide the toes while looking more formal and elevated than typical summer shoe fabrics.

Mesh, macrame, wicker, rattan, and metallic leather feel summery while still being closed-toed. Slim heels, sparkles, shine, and delicate details give a more formal vibe.
With so many woven, raffia, mesh, and braied styles this season, it's a great time to shop for closed-toe summer shoes. This is only to get your sartorial juices flowing, as you will see even more options as you peruse the season footwear offerings at your favorite retailers. Wow, what a collection! You’ve outdone yourself, Alison! I would add Toni Pons for espadrilles, and Vince woven raffia loafers (from last year, but still around and wonderful).
