What I Wore: Holiday Style
I wore this skirt Thanksgiving and shared the look on Instagram. I mentioned I'd also style it with a white shirt a la Carolina Herrera and several of you said you'd love to see it. Well here it is, and even better, this whole look is 40% off! It's all part of the Talbots RSVP Collection and right now is their Friends and Family event; save 40% off your entire order with promo code FRIENDS40.

Skirt: Pleated Dot Maxi Skirt c/o Talbots (12P) | Shirt: Perfect Shirt c/o Talbots (16P I sized up for my bust but think I would have been fine with 14P) | Shoes: Isa Block-Heel Pumps c/o Talbots | Bag: c/o Talbots (old; this year's version) | Earrings: Cristabelle (sold out; extremely similar and same brand) | Bracelet: Banana Republic (old; similar)
A maxi skirt may seem a bit… extra. However, it's quite a versatile and smart way to dress for the holidays. For Thanksgiving, I wore it with a Universal Standard Foundation t-shirt and my Lissom flats. It was super comfortable as I dashed around preparing the home for guests, “glistening” in the kitchen as I cooked dishes and then later washed them. My friend is having a house party and I plan to wear this skirt with my Chico's Coolmax turtleneck. The turtleneck will keep me warm if I go outside to chat around the fire pit without having me overheat if I'm indoors near the fireplace. The skirt can hide fleece tights and tall boots to keep me warm. And with a crisp white shirt I'd be ready for a more formal occasion, even an evening wedding. Want more ideas? How about with a band t-shirt and your favorite pair of Chucks? Or maybe with a denim shirt and cowboy boots? Glam it up with an off the shoulder top or bodysuit; make it festive when paired with a red cashmere sweater or a sparkly top. Come spring, this would look great with a pale pink blouse or shell!
If polka dots aren't your thing I have you covered; below is a collection of fab and festive maxi skirts that you can wear for the holidays and beyond.
Talbots is fantastic for chic formal fashion. I'm typing this before I head out for the evening where I will be wearing my Talbots Lady Tux from last year (they have a similar jacket and pants this year). For a different dressy event, I wore this jacket and these pants from Talbots' RSVP Collection with a black silky cami. I planned to share looks from my holiday capsule wardrobe but many of the pieces sold out. I'm thrilled to see the sequined pencil skirt I have from Talbots is back in stock; it looks great with this navy cashmere sweater for a company office party and is also chic with the white shirt I'm wearing in this post!
I have been watching for years and you have truly come into your own. AND I found myself shopping at Talbots this last weekend. You wear it well. I can only hope for so much. I ended up buying at Maurice, at Christopher Banks and JC Penney. The right size makes all the difference. Than you.
Thank you so much! And great retailers, one of my favorite dresses is from Christopher & Banks!
I just gotta say, your hair has been on point lately! And I agree with everything Michelle said.
