My husband started taking pictures this morning but said the memory card was acting up, so I gave him a different one. Came to work and the second memory card is completely empty, but the first “acting up” one had these images. So only one outfit shot and no details, but you get some of me with Emerson after she gave me a “princess makeover.” Too bad we lost the second set of pictures because that card had a picture of my husband wearing this bow around his neck!
This skirt just arrived from eBay and it was exactly what I felt I needed to transition my wardrobe from summer to fall. Heavy cotton sateen, strategic pleating, fully lined. It's a hair tight, but I hope to be a hair smaller pretty soon. So today the skirt is a big high on the waist, in just two pounds I know it will sit perfectly and will look super cute with everything from my new dotted top to a simple cardigan!
i really love this outfit
I love this outfit. When you last wore this top, I fell in love and went to my local AT but they did not have it anymore. It’s a great color on you!

Awesome outfit, Allie! How was the concert last weekend? I’m kicking myself that I didn’t know about it on time to get tickets. Sounds like it would have been a great show!
It was… good. On paper, it would be epic – the setlist was created by requests from their fan club and on Twitter and they played some rarities. However, it wasn’t cohesive and I felt they lost the audience twice because of it. They still sounded amazing and played some great stuff, but it wasn’t as amazing of an experience as it has been for me at all of their other shows. I hate to hate on the show because I find it awesome that a band would create a setlist on such short notice and choose songs purely off the requests of fans. They still are fabulous and will forever have a fan in me, but this is not one of my top shows for them. That being said, I am now a bigger Band of Horses fan – they were fabulous live, my first time seeing them!
That’s really interesting… I can see how the request setlist could wind up having drawbacks like you described. But I’m glad Band of Horses was fun! I haven’t seen them yet either, but would love to. I’m really enjoying your posts about music, Allie. Keep them coming! I feel like I’ve gained so many insights from you about music and fashion!
This is my favorite look on you ever!
love the coral colored top. It looks great on you. You and your girl look adorable together. She looks like a minnie me version of you!
Your skirt has me thinking–have you ever done a post on transitional pieces?
This is one of your best outfits yet Ali! The watermelon colour really suits your complexion and the skirt length/cut makes your legs look great ๐
I like the length of today’s skirt.
I love the skirt and the wrap sweater ( beautiful color on you!)
The original look was great, Allie. But I do think Emerson’s addition of the sparkly bow really took the outfit to a ten. Girlfriend has some great fashion instincts. Has little E ever seen this blog? Another little girl with great style sense! ๐

Love this look on you. The top is a great color for you and the shape of it and the skirt are perfect!
That looks like the *perfect* transitional, even year-round skirt, Allie. Great find, and adorable daughter : >
And it was only $12! LOVE eBay!
The black top and skir together beneath the cardi almost look like a one-piece dress…I like it! Cute length and a perky hemline on the skirt…perfect for you!
That skirt is great, what a fun find!
