What I Wore: Summer Sheath
Dress: c/o Dobbin Clothing | Necklace: Tasha | Shoes: c/o Sole Society | Bracelet: Nordstrom | Watch: Citizen | Bag: Talbots | Cast Cover: c/o CastCoverz!
I've been wearing the heck out of this dress this year, but I realize this is the first time it's on the blog (though you can see me wearing it on the Dobbin Clothing blog!). When it's hot out, there's nothing better than one-piece dressing to keep your cool! I love how the skirt of this dress is pleated so it sticks away from the body to be even more comfortable in the heat and humidity. While I've paired this dress with almost every pair of shoes in my wardrobe, today I kept it simple with same color heels so the accessories could shine. I bought this bag on clearance at Talbots and adore it as a shoulder bag or crossbody, and my peacock-print cast cover is by far my favorite!
Browsing Bloglovin’ with my daughter, and when we got to your feed and this post she said, “Oh, there’s a pretty lady!” ๐
I love, love, love this dress. Sadly, I find Dobbins only carries up to a size 16, which would fit except for my 48″ bust. Do you know of anything similar which comes in a larger size?
The brand Pepperberry has classic feminine dresses and is geared towards large busts: http://www.bravissimo.com/pepperberry/products/dresses/ also eShakti creates dresses to custom measurements: http://www.eshakti.com/Products/dresses
Thank you so much! Found exactly what I was looking for at Pepperberry, and on sale no less. Fits like a dream, good quality, good price. Maybe I don’t hate shopping.
Quick question about those cute shoes: I’d love to buy something from Sole Society, but I have wide feet. And it looks like they don’t have wide sizes. Would you say the shoes are pretty standard width/fit, or do they run wide or narrow? Thanks!!
It seems by reviews on their site and reviews online that it varies by style of shoe. I found this shoe fits similar to shoes I have from Nine West. My feet are wide in front and narrow in back and this style of shoe is quite roomy; I did choose the suede because I knew it would be more flexible than other materials but I think this shoe would have worked for me in any of the textiles.
It’s good to have a dress like this at the ready.
With a jacket or sweater and a scarf you could easily go into Fall. I like skirts that are straight like that to be a little longer, as shown. I often have people show up at my work area and if my skirt has ended up mid-thigh as I’m sitting it’s awkward to swivel around and talk with them.
Agree regarding the short skirt lengths! Fine if I’m at my desk but if I have a meeting it’s so awkward!
I adore one piece dressing — just a dress. I hate wearing hot shoes in the summer though. How do you deal with sweaty feet?!?! This summer, I decided that it’s not worth it anymore!! My shoes must have some ventilation of any kind — open toe, cutouts, etc. Great look on you, Alison!
I have insoles in all of my shoes, a variety of FootPetals and Nawemos (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C8REH1G/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00C8REH1G&linkCode=as2&tag=whaevewomneei-20&linkId=QLD4PKY5QJ5I6CJB ) which help a lot, and in the summer I often switch my shoes for the commute to something with ventilation (today it’s my Bernie Mevs https://www.wardrobeoxygen.com/2014/04/comfy-and-chic-shoes-for-spring.html ) ๐
Looking good, Alison. The heels are too cute and I want them. I like styling of this look…yes, your arm cast is included. It all works together.
Thank you, dear Vivi!
