What I Wore: Pinstriped Ponte
When this post goes live, I will be in Florida with the brand Chico's. We're celebrating the brand's 35th anniversary and I am so honored to have been invited. Be sure to follow my Instagram Stories to see the behind the scenes from the event. There's a very good chance you will see this pinstriped ponte coordinated set on me!
Top: Pinstriped Ponte Tee c/o Chico's (size 2) | Pants: Pinstriped Ponte Tapered Ankle Pants c/o Chico's (size 2) | Scarf: Leopard Scarf c/o cabi | Earrings: Zara (sold out; similar concept) | Bag: Clare V (same bag in other colors, another green clutch) | Shoes: ComfortView
When I was invited, I asked if I could receive some of Chico's New Arrivals to wear to the event. I have Chico's in my closet, but nothing brand spanking new. I asked for the red outfit seen in this post, and this coordinated set. Clearly, I have a thing for coordinated sets this season! At the time when I ordered this set, the pants weren't available in petite. I would have done better with petite, and if I want to wear the top untucked, maybe a size smaller in the pants. But I like this look, it's like a jumpsuit but since it's two pieces it's a more custom fit.
And hello ponte! Super comfy, stretchy, but polished enough for the workplace. The pants have real pockets, the top looks cute tucked in or untucked. I may get the pants in the smaller petite size because I think I'd wear the heck out of this look with an untucked top and a pair of pointed toe flats and a long pendant necklace!
The scarf looks familiar, doesn't it? It's the same one I wore in yesterday's post! It's such a neutral – not too warm, not too cool, and not too bright that it goes with everything. This look needed something at the waist and I love the mixing of patterns (leopard print is a neutral!).
These earrings I bought from Zara a couple months ago. I didn't love them or love a dress I ordered and packed everything up to return… and somehow the return box got lost in the shuffle and when cleaning out my trunk I found it under a blanket. Ugh. I still don't like the dress and will be likely putting it on Poshmark soon, but the earrings I liked far better the second time around. In fact, I think they're the perfect finishing touch for this ensemble!
I’m the worst at commenting (because I read you in Feedly), but this outfit is SUCH a hit!! FAB-U-LOUS!
The other commenters are right, you are a great stylist and have knocked it out of the park on this one.
Love this outfit. One of my favorites. You look FABULOUS
I am curious about the sandals. They look great, but are they comfortable? I have wide feet and struggle to find attractive sandals that are comfy.
This is my favourite outfit on you EVER! So good, and really what a great two piece. It would be so versatile for both work and play!
And this is why I love your blog! Just looked at these items on the Chico’s site and, honestly, while I love their clothes, their suggested stylings for these items are far less attractive and inspiring than yours. You look great.
I agree with your styling. I love the way you wear clothes.
addendum: you wear this outfit MUCH better than the model on Chico’s page! I never would have given it a second look had you worn it.
…had you NOT worn it!
Jo,
I have often commented on how clothes look better on Allie than the model. Catalog shots are supposed to encourage customers to purchase garments. But often the catalog shot looks blah and uninspiring. Then Allie puts in on, styles it, and now the garment is attractive enough that several of us seriously consider buying and some do.
Allie has an outstanding talent as a stylist. She just knows what looks and feels good. It seems that her daughter has inherited this ability too. Any clothing retailer would be lucky to have her
working as a stylist for them.
HOME RUN! You are really batting it out of the park lately. This is fabulous! It’s conservative but you have managed to give it an Allie Funk treatment. Applause.
I thought this was a jumpsuit. You look Fantastic!!
This is a wow: 2 pieces that function as a jumpsuit. You look polished yet I know it is comfortable. Super cool to mix animal print and pin stripes.
While I do not have a single item from Chicos in my closet …. I ‘d wear this look in the blink of an eye – you look gorgeous A!
