What I Wore: Let’s Have a Kiki
Dress: Vintage (Two Potatoes via Etsy seller Found Yesterday Goods), more dresses from this brand | Shoes: Born ‘Myndy' | Necklace: c/o Sweet & Spark | Bracelets: Nordstrom (similar), Gorjana, had forever (similar)
It's hard to shop vintage online when you're not a small dress size. Size charts have changed drastically over the years and there's not a lot of quality selection when you're cusp or plus size. This dress is one piece, reminiscent of a hospital gown as the front has two ties you tie at the ribcage, and then at the waist against the body. Then you take the two ties on the back piece and tie in front as an empire-waist height bow. This dress likely would fit anywhere from an 8 to 14 because of these ties and was advertised and labeled as a Large. Two Potatoes is a brand that is still around today, but doesn't carry any dresses in this style; the seller said this was from the '70s. I'm glad I took a chance, this dress is so unusual and perfect to have a kiki or a summer party!
You’re killing it lately with your outfit posts! Love every one of them!
Love this on you! You are rocking it!
When I was working in the costume shop in college, one of the girls found a dress like this at the Salvation Army. We used it to draft a pattern and that summer we all had funky maxi dresses in fun prints. It was a quick, easy project. I wonder if I kept a copy of that pattern…
You look radiant in that dress–those colors really look amazing on you. There is something so exciting when a vintage find works like this one does for you! Well done you, taking the chance on it!
LOVE this dress! Man, vintage dresses are just the best. ๐
Very fun!
Fun and flattering!
You look gorgeous! Love the print of that maxi!
Allie,
Have you found that this Etsy seller or Etsy sellers in general are willing to haggle on prices?
Thanks!
Chris
I’m sure you get tired of me saying the same thing over and over, but I love this color on you!!! How interesting the way the dress ties!! And look…those wonderful yellow sandals again—love! jodie

I love everything about this dress–the style, the color, the length, the collar especially! Very, very beautiful! It can worn on a Caribbean vacation or cruise. Gorgeous, Allie, and a good choice.

I love this song! Now I’m bouncing in my seat at work with this on my headphones – what a pick-me-up!
This is one of my sister’s trademark “getting ready to go out” songs and this post is a little shout-out to her ๐
