What I Wore: Winterized
I wore this same outfit on the blog before, even down to one of the same bracelets… but last time it was warm enough to run around with bare legs. This dress is a nice heavy weight that doesn't cling to tights or any of my curves, and is a bit warm. The neck is high enough that I can wear a v-neck cami underneath, and these tights are super thick; paired with a knee-length coat, scarf, hat, and gloves I'm good to go this winter!
And yes… new glasses! Coastal.com has some deals that are just too good to pass up. They have a few styles that are free to new customers (look at the top of the site for the promotion), and once you buy from them they send you 50,000 emails, but most have good promotions. With a $49 Derek Cardigan promotion they were having and a promo code I found on RetailMeNot these ended up being about $20. And if you go through Ebates, you get 5% cash back on purchases from Coastal.com!
Have you tried Zenni optical for glasses? Depending on your prescription, you can get them for $10-20. They take a little while to get in, but can’t be beat for the price!
I haven’t yet but I plan to! Thanks!
I keep meaning to tell you that just around the same time you started posting about buying new glasses from Coastal, I had JUST bought two pairs from those guys! But I’m WAY behind so I haven’t posted them yet. Yours look perfect, of course. I think the main reason I ended up going with them was because their virtual try-on is really good — it actually asks for your PD. The Canadians best us at everything. ๐
I love wearing some of my favorite summer dresses in the winter with tights and a cardigan/blazer. It’s my favorite way to get the most out of my wardrobe ๐
Allie,
I know you talked about your coat, scarf, and gloves for the commute, but is the dress + tights by themselves warm enough to wear around DC in December? OK I looked up your today’s weather, mid 50s. I was thinking you were in 30s during the days and lower at night. At any rate, you look fantastic!
Chris
I only walk about four blocks from the metro and back and I do think it’s warm enough. I wouldn’t want to stand out for the bus or walk a mile in it, but for what I do I think it’s plenty and I feel cozy ๐
I do this with my dresses too – wear them year-round with tights. I love the print on this one!
I loved the dress when you wore it last time and I love the restyling. Actually this is what I do a lot with my dresses in order to take them to the colder season.

I still LOVE this dress! It’s the perfect dress for any season. Cute new glasses too! ๐
